Advance Wars Days of Ruin is one DS game that I can say I'm proud to own. I love the custom map creator and the campaign's storyline was amazing (but FUCK, why'd Brenner have to die? Q_Q) Here's a tip: If you can't handle resupplying units and deciding which tank/plane/troop is best to check an enemy strategy, you'd best not enter into the profession of war. Ever.

I'll admit, some missions made me pull my hair out *cough cough* Caulder. But when you finish it, you'll feel so rewarded. Trust me.

I played Advanced Wars 1 and was pretty shocked on how they depicted war. I mean it's still a child's game, but if you ever head the pleasure of talking to a japanese student you will realise how little they actually now of history, yet how much they know of timelines of the Gundam series and advanced wars. My buddy played days of ruin some time ago and believe it or not. In depicting a realistic view of war this game is actually worse! They should have just shown robots and stick with that.

IMO this game did have the depth and detail of an interesting Storyline, but that being said, it felt like they really Limit Multiplayer Options and Extras xompared to Advance Wars Dual Strike

@chikeedoo No extra modes other then storyline and Multiplayer where's as in Dual Strike they had a simulated Conquer and Command Game, Time/Money/Unit Survival mode, and the Dual thing was awsome where Air Units are in one Screen and Ground on the other, and once the battle on top was won/lost the survivor would bring there units down and would be a 2 on 1 scenario.

@Kelbek2009 like capture that point, spawn those units, move that helicopter, attack with your artillery , move the infantry to the woods, get the battleships ready at the point, find the shortest route by looking at the terrain, look at the stats of the unit so you dont lose battle , ressuply the units, repair the units,get the bomber at the point, ambush the enemy at the river,defend your hq and finally capture the enemy hq.

not much to do at all. but it would help if i had 6 brains

i honestly think they've stepped up big time with the graphics and i didnt really rely on neotanks anyways in previous games, i usually used Grit :)

and post-apocalyptic is a common setting for most games nowadays anyways.

This game had a much more balanced gameplay. However, when you get down to it, this game still favors rushing with infantry to block/safeguard and using bombers to damage.

I thought that sooner or later they would re-code the physics to allow a bomber to fly over and past things like infantry, tanks and ships.

This is the main thing that needs to be done for a new advance wars - the ability to pass through other units that are on completely different terrain.

I tried to play AW Dual Strike, but after one battle I was so pissed with it because it seemed childish to me (P.S. War tanks and soldiers aren't supposed to be teh prettiful rainbow unicorn colours :/ ) Personally, I liked this series way better.

This mature twist to the series gives the kids a brief and more realistic view of what War really is : It is horrible and far from being a PollyPocket Party.

Although the Scenario is unperfect, it is well built and much more believable than the previous Advance Wars episodes.

Days of Ruin because it kinda resembles life, its hard, difficult, and depressing. (The characters look cooler too like Will and Lin :p)

Dual Strike is just too happy, jumpy and colorful. Most of all its really unrealistic...

IGN gave this game Best Online Multiplayer Game in 08, and I can see why. Wi-Fi and even playing with friends close by is ridiculously fun. I actually found the change in story setting / attitude a refreshing change from the original. Very well done change, I hope there is a sequel or even a newer setting for a future AW game.

Youre a moron if you say this and have never played any of the Advance Wars series. I started playing it when AW1 was out on the DS while I was in the army to pass the time, and Ive been hooked ever since.

Advance Wars > Fire Emblem.

Tons of options, tons of strategies, tons of different characters to use, endless replayability with skirmish maps, or even create your own. Enough said.

Here is my imaginery Sniper specs =P

HP = 10 (DUH!)

Movement Type and Number = Infantry (double duh) 1 (the first unit that moves only ONE space)

Attack Range = 1-4 (It can also attack at at close-range, also a first =P)

It can utterly destroy Infantry with their inevitable headshots, and against ground vehicles, they use grenades that are extremely unpredictable in payload damage (Grenade's ammo is 2 AND has a separate range of 2-3, however snipers can move AND use grenades :D)
