I dont have the time to trace back, you cannot interpret law and order practices to the extent of labeling them as the 'evil empire' especially when put their actions into context with other states across the globe.. its at the very extreme heavy handed, any more exaggeration is unfair.

I gree china is a little backwards but so are over developing countries like india, india is supposed to be a democracy, if you believe that. Plus how can you compare your small country to china, its alot easier keeping law and order when the population is manageable. HK and Macao are small chinese states that are easily manageable, its totally different in those states.
