  • that was lame

  • JYAZZ

  • Oh dear.

this man's articulation seems to miss the mark, and I believe I'm echoing the sentiments of others here.

He provides no base, no context, mistakenly assuming everyone knows what he's referring to and flying through the whole thing.

The camera angle exposing what he's doing might be a combination of either him or the operator. Hard call.

I also have learned not to use a maple necked anything when showing anything to students, JUST NOW.

  • @Kingpin0072001uk If you can't follow along with this, you should go back to your theory. Learning guitar purely off of tabs and guitar pro is the most redundant thing one can possibly do. If you can't follow a video with someone explaining, how can you ever jam with people? What happens when you jam with people... "Oh hold on stop playing guys, do you have a tab for this?" I'm just starting to immerse myself in theory, I understood this fine. Learn your intervals, notes and major scales.

  • @MrApocalyte

I love my theory, what are you talking about?

  • @Kingpin0072001uk i lol'd

  • @omegasephiroth93

I cringe at my own posts sometimes :S

I must have either been hungover or drunk

  • cool

  • This is one case where... "It doesn't take a village"

  • ..you tube is full of "jazz guitar teachers" :)

  • "EXPERTS IN THEIR OWN VILLAGE"

  • "expert village" = a bluff.

  • You call a mention of a minor ninth cord "advanced technique?" Also, the fingering he mentions, while possible, is not the most common or even the most preferred for this chord, as was mentioned above...a big LOL on this

  • lol 138989 vids

  • arpaiiigeio

  • this bald guy is always on cocaine

and expert village is nothing but SHIT

  • a 9th is definitely a chord tone in juzz.

most of the time when i play a minor chord with a #5 it is really a dominant with no maj 3rd.

  • also about the #5, i'm assuming he's talking about using the min9 as a tonic chord (same root note in bass). usually, it's not a good idea to use a #5 on a minor chord because it's too ambigious (but since its jazz, you can use whatever you want given that you make it sound good). back to the min7#5, to use these type of voicings, you want to think about what notes fit what chord. for example, a basic one, you could use c-7#5 over Ab(maj7).

  • Be careful!!

i agree with the other post about fingerings, this fingering seems very strange and ineffiencent to me. normally, you'd have your pinky to cover the 9 instead of baring over the 3 strings. he talked about letting very chord tone ring (9 is not a chord tone, its a tension but if it sounds good, terms do not matter.), in this case having the pinky would make it easier since every finger is on a individual note.

  • No wonder this is FREE..

    It Sucks !

  • not advanced at all .... :( sorry

  • @turigeza This must be the advanced music store wanker class, It is right after the advanced wanker Swedish death metal class for idiots who hang out in music stores all day.

  • dude, next time how about calling out the string and the fret positions, or including a chart, fuzzy

  • ATTENTION JAZZ MUSICIANS! (or anyone with a good musical ear). Please help. Can you name the song in this video? "A Mistery for Jazz"

  • I know it's a year late but, that's "Blue Bossa" by Kenny Dorham.

  • the song is blue bossa (

  • My guitar teacher is like 1000000000000000 times better then this dude

  • Who needs guitar teachers?

  • Guitarists.

  • seriously, if u want to be a successfull guitarist get a teacher.

  • slowdown man

  • omg this did not teach me anytinhg

  • This chord is a lot easier if you utilize your pinky to assist your ring finger in completing the top end of the chord.

  • yeah dude i woodnt call this advanced jazz, ive been playin for 3 or 4 years and ive known tht for a while. as for him sucking, leave him alone he explained it well.

  • hes a good guitarest but he needs to slow down a lot cause i can't understand any of it.

  • ive been playing guitar since i was 7. did not understand A WORD he said. hahaha

  • Fuck... this comment is hilarious!!!

  • Chords aren't advanced in themselves. They are only advanced in context.

  • great!!!

  • this guy should not teach to strech with your anular (ring) finger insted of going towards the pinkie. he hides his pinkie when not in use. DAMN YOU MR.CLEAN(kinda looks like him)

  • Does he know that he is bending a string while playing the chord?

  • No he does not .......

    Thats because he sucks!

  • i know hes totaly bending the string on in middle finger... this guy sucks

  • Lmao I'm learning this and this says advanced jazz, I feel good!

  • I'll tell ya something cool though,I was watching this danny gatton dvd,and he would play in the key of e..but to make things sound jazzy without getting to far out of the box,he said that he like a hillbilly would play in the wrong Key..he would have an open e string going then do like a b natural minor scale under it..sounds cool too.

  • Nope..your wrong..check out SRV's "stang swang"..guess he got tired of nothing but pentatonic blues scales,he often sited Kenny burrel as an influence..and I recently read that brad paisley felt like he was an Inferior guitarist if he couldn't play jazz..but music like Bebop that doesn't keep a steady melody is crappy for a listen to enjoy..they only played that way cause they didn't want certain other musicians asking to sit in with them to get up there.

  • Yes your right you can use other influences to enhance your playing. Because playing pentatonic runs get REALLY old after awhile but like I said in another reply. Its up to the artist to be tasteful enough to know when to stop and not go too far.

  • lol... wow... nice comments

    where are guys gigging again?

hole in the wall bars... rad.

  • Just because it isn't rock, don't dis it...without Jazz, Rock wouldn't exist.

Music is a Art, and Theorys dont solve questions, they answer a question with a questionable answer. Music sounds good, because it stimulates the brain, and allows the brain to focus in on sound, and become more harmonic.

  • Hmm..I'm learning jazz and you have all these chords like m7,m6..ect..and learning what chords go together is a challenge for anyone..so yeah theory goes along way.but no,any good music has to have emotion to it.like 'cliffs of dover,or brillancy played on the mandolin..theory comes in handy when transposing from another instrument to guitar as well..scales for instance..Danny Gatton couldn't read nor SRV..but theory helps to make sense of a big tangled mess..

  • YEP

  • Very true, I get pissed after a while though, there are so many chords you get lost, then two different chords are the same and so forth, but hey sounds kickass.

  • jazz is hard to play, and i think is to hard for the results, but it still is good!!!

  • Jazz is hard to play because you have to think about what arp will fit over this chord or that but then again if you have to think about it to improv is it music. I personally think about 70% of jazz in NOT music its just an ex. is proof of concept but its actually crap. These jazz guys. Hey look how far out I can play and justify that its in key. ERRR I hate Jazz nazis

  • your probably right. But studying your guitar to learn as many variations as possible will only make you a better player. 90% of music in general is crap dude.

  • Yeah I agree. I guess its up to the artist to know when he or she has taken it too far

  • Im an average guitar player but I tried to appreciate what you said advance but Im sorry I cannot see anything advance to what you shown.

  • agreed

  • This is advanced because it's not typical, unless you play jazz ,how could you argue otherwise without being a know it all wanker ,but's its short,it should have had diagrams for those just starting and perhaps a little more content, this doesn't make me want to chase you as an instructor ,LOL

  • You're all very clever because you can boast how you think this isn't advanced. I've been playing 30 years and can't remember a single thing about musical theory, trust me, this means absolutely nothing to me yet I still make a decent sound. Do you think Django bothered? No, he couldn't even bloody read let alone read music. Didn't even have enough fingers. Go back and learn your theory if you want but it won't make you a genius because you have to be born one.

  • fair enough, but theory is part of the your musical culture, and can be a great deal of help when composing, arranging, jazz comping... you can't blame someone for trying to know the hows and whys, cause that's valuable curiosity and not every bothers taking the time to do it

  • You are SO wrong on many levels. Music isnt genius its very well layed out and very formulaic you just have not learned enuff yet. Theory is the key to the wave forms and frequencies working together. Just like math is to building a bridge. Its not as tuff and GENIUS as you think it is. Once the vail of mystery is pulled away its all 1 4 5 or 2 5 1 or a substitute of those no more

  • I fail to see what advanced refers to in this content when I see something very basic. I hope the advanced part will come to surface later on.

  • Its adv. because anytime you explain theory on the guitar especially extended and altered chords its considered advanced. Beginning guitar are all first position chords or triads

  • To me, it's only a formula, simple mathematics, by this standard I am a Grand Master!

  • I agree I hate jazz I really do people who get ate up by the Jazz bug R Jazz Nazis. They assume that if you cant hear what they hear then you suck. BUt really all they do is use theory to justify playing out of key and use chord subs to screw up a melody. Pentatonic BABY ALL THE WAY

  • do ou guys see how many videos these guys ave!

  • Real men play keytars

  • excellent to have the instruction!

great instructor. True, though, chord structure is advanced beginner stuff.

For an untrained person wishing to play

jazz this would seem advanced. For a jazz

player this would seem a simple chord.

Every beginner should know "every" chord in every position upside down and backwards.

    So.. great stuff. VERY simple.

  • i am a beginner, trust me you guitar geeks, this is very advanced.

  • THIS IS EVERYTHING BUT ADVANCED! -.-

  • that bothered me to

  • No, a m9 chord is not advanced, per se, but how else can you show a m9 chord besides... show it? How would YOU show it and make it advanced? You can't.

  • good not good enough

  • fa schifo
