You sound 100% Canadian!! I am in southwestern Ontario (next to Michigan). We even say "pop", not soda. The only thing you pronounced differently than we would was "bag".
I hear you with bag/flag, etc. I get guff all the time 'specially being in the military. how do you pronounce root (the noun and the verb)? How about creek? So, yeah I'm told I have a Canadian accent, but I think the Minnesotans and NorDakers do.I think I slur my words a bit more than you. Like if there is a cluster as in "maintenance" I don't pronounce the "t." Also how about there actually being a Manhattan, NY? Wow was I blown away to find that out in like 4th grade or Amsterdam, Holland?
I grew up in Havre, but I have now lived in Virginia for 20 years. Here, when it is raining and sunny at the same time we say "the Devil is beating his wife." I don't recall having a phrase for that in Montana. A friend of mine who lives here but came from North Dakota also says bag like you did.
I'm from Virginia and when it rains when the sun is shining, we say that the "Devil's beatin his wife". I realize no other dialect meme video has understood this question, so I thought I'd clear it up. :)
I'm from Montana too and I don't pronounce bag, flag, hag etc. like you do. Where I'm from, just north of Yellowstone Park, it's about 50/50 among the general population on the 'ag ending' pronunciation. My friend and his family say it that way but my family doesn't. Oh, I also pronounce 'creek' as 'crick'.
Im from Virginia, and to me Northern accents sound a tad more nasal and/or twangy. I guess when they say "hey guyeeees". It sounds as if they sorta wine when they talk. I hope that doesnt offend anyone, because I have many Northern friends and they are very nice people, in general. In the South we have the smooth drawl, which Im used to.
Actually that's incorrect. Upstate NY has the Inland North accident- this is mostly Syracuse, Buffalo and Rochester, and to a lesser extend in Binghamton and Albany. Thiis is a very notable accent shared with other "great lake cities" such as Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago and to a similar extend Milwaukee. It's actually quite far from "dictionary english" and is very distinctive compared to more "neutral" parts of the country.
Yesss! Sir-up, not seeeer-up for syrup! Heheheh. You're the first person I've found who pronounces it like I do and I've watched a whole bunch of these! I'm from British Columbia, Canada.
@TanyaBrossoit Its funny you say that, I've been in California, and someone said to me "you must be from Montana, or Canada..." I was like "how can you tell?" she was like "because of your accent" its funny that I don't think I have an accent, but I guess I do... LOL
@wpederson1 I would not say you have an accent but it is a way of saying certain words. Then again the way we speak all determines where we are from and we do not normally pick up our own accents. Most people who are not from where we are will pick them up. I for one always find it fun to hear an accent, and try to figure out where they are from.

Oh, how do you pronounce "skull"? My mom, who was an English teacher, used to harp on me about my Montana pronunciation of that and of bag.

I grew up on Long Island, The Upstate NY accent couldn't be more different than the General Western accent which Montana is apart of.
ohso41 2 months ago
@ohso41 Upstate NY doesn't really have much accent. We pronounce most stuff the way the dictionary indicates.

@ohso41 I'm not that far North. This is the Hudson Valley. Trust me, there's little to no accent.

It doesn't sound Canadian at all in any way whatsoever- sounds very similar to a Colorado accent-
ohso41 9 months ago
@TanyaBrossoit The states that border Canada actually sound very Canadian. I hear it in the Wisconsin accent, too.
