i just got 6 full grown ones off craigslist for 10$ lol and i put them in with my 3 oscars witch are full grown too and i put them in my 75 gallon tank witch i need to buy a bigger one soon too.
Hey how long does it take for them to get this big and bulky? I had mine for 2 years and it still hasnt grown much. Its in a 29 gallon and I feed it Hikari Gold and bloodworms and do water changes weekly. Pls respond. Thanks
@ajwest747 The size of your tank will effect its growth. Does your convict have a flowerhorn forehead like his one? I have a black & Grey convict like this but many fish keepers have told be its hybrid convict or barred midas.
sweet !!!! . . . one question i bought a Pink Con. at 1" size i have had her for 6 months and she is only 2" why? she is in a 55G with a jag a blue texas a RD and a red oscar they dont bug her at all she eats but only 2" or maximum 2.5" why ? do they grow slow i really want her to grow she is so sweet i love her but dont want her to be that small because all her mates are growing and all of them i got em at 1"
@Seurhja this is not a convict. its definately a midas cichlid, which are notoriously mean as hell. i had one that looked just like this bitch, its in my old vids even. this one is just a pale color. now that this is said though, watch how many little dipshits throw their two cents in on this, but you are right.

He was bought at 1 inch, raised with other cons, bred with other cons, and most importantly of all, he looked exactly like them when he was smaller. He was put in the 220, and since he wasn't distracted by females or other males, he focused his energy on growing into a beast.

Hi nice fish you have there - i have just bought some wee baby albino balloon convicts 1 male 2 female they real chunky little bubbas lol no they really are awesome females have some nice bright colours orange on underside n so on and they ahve some nice colours in their fins too lovely blue tones etc so has male and male got a real awesome big hump on his head have a nice day.

@RyanRules12345678 dont toss the female in there. thats "his turf" and he will see the female (most likely) as a threat and kill her. unless there is A LOT of places for them to hide, then i don't think its a good idea. just my two sense
@tcfuturevet I hear ya man. I'm probably putting the pair in a 55. If they did spawn in the 220g no fry would survive with all the predatory fish in the tank. I'll make an update soon.

I just do regular water changes and feed high quality food, and he just didnt stop growing. lol
Right now he is housed with some severum, v. syspilum, synodontis eupterus, a midas, and of course oscars.
