I read the book and it was really sad. I've never seen the movie, but my mom said it was really sad. The book is even more side. Its a good book though. I liked it.

I once watched Precious at 4am on a trans-Atlantic flight, entirely unprepared for the story line. It had me crying into my complimentary ginger ale. So much sadness. This review made me think of that. I probably won't watch The Color Purple (so as to keep my image of Danny G untarnished), but I'll recommend Precious for if you're ever craving for another good, heart-breaking movie.
