  • SPIDER WEB!! 10th planet baby!!

  • brazilian jiu-jitsu came from jiu-jitsu,jiu-jitsu came from judo

  • Not to step on anyone's toes but jujitsu was the traditional Japanese martial art. Kano then broke off from jujitsu and created judo, so " jujutsu " was first, then came judo which eventually became an Olympic sport in the 1960's. Jujitsu came to Brazil by way of Mitsuyo Maeda ( sent by Kano ) who taught Carlos Gracie and his younger brother, Helio when he traveled to Brazil. The Gracies went on to create Brazilian Jujitsu from then on.

  • @serekithegreat

    Who cares?

  • Nice ! good explanations, will check for dvd's!

  • 2:58 sweet

  • Drysdale is the man!

  • excellent info! *fave*

  • There is a Drysdale seminar at my gym this Saturday. I am Extremely excited.

  • Drysdale is very impressive, superb instruction!

  • I will have to agreed that Bjj came from Kosen Judo. Eddie Bravo didn't invent any move, he may have tweeked them slightly. But he didn't invent anything. Techniques are only rediscovered

  • so every technique possible was invented at the beginning? The ancient Japanese that invented Jiu Jitsu were gods and came up with every possible technique? I don't think so. I study Judo and I have great respect for it and for Japanese martial arts, but every grappling technique was not invented by the japanese.

  • @Menof09 pretty much, all this new stuff is just a variation of something that already existed

  • yea but if i realeased a video on the x guard/armdrag to single leg right after marcelo garcia won adcc 2 times people would b like "woo woo woo" just like others are qq'ing about this guy doing all the 10th planet stuff.

  • @liquid636 "I will have to agreed that Bjj came from Kosen Judo. Eddie Bravo didn't invent any move, he may have tweeked them slightly. But he didn't invent anything. Techniques are only rediscovered"

And judo came from japanese ju jitsu, and japanese ju jitsu (and most asian martial arts for that matter) trace their lineage back to India. And Indian martial arts likely borrowed many techniques from the martial arts systems of other nations, Greece and Rome for instance.

  • muito louca essa variação na hora do arm lock drysdale parabens suas tecnicas estão otimas abraço.

  • hey isnt it better to grab the far ankle or doesnt it matter wat 1 to grab

  • True! That is Eddie's Swim Move from the back. Eddie has more ways to apply the swim move, even from rubber guard(jellyfish).

And BJ Penn also does the swim move from a while back. Watch the Pulver fight

  • i dont see how people hate eddie so much... if dysdale likes what eddie does you know its good stuff!

  • People hate Eddie because he gets endlessly cited on youtube comments. He's not just a BJJ instructor, he's a BJJ instructor with a weird cultlike following. He's a talented an innovative grappler but jesus shut up already.

  • I'm starting a new revolution! You guys are already apart of it. We are new known as "YOUTUBE FIGHTERS". We have no real training except the moves we learn from youtube. Nice eh? Who's with me!? In my next tournament, i'm gonna put youtube as my team name. SWEETNESS!

  • im with ya.lol

  • If you guys have the tape series, Robert talks about using Eddie Bravo stuff.

He says he borrowed from Bravo's system when he was a blue belt.

You guys who are saying "bravo, lol" are pretty funny when it's RIGHT IN THE SERIES

  • also Bruce lee was the first to teach to train it all the good from all styles. someone that just does one style loses alot those earlier UFC were Royce beet so called masters(street brawlers with fake reps exc. dan severen, shamrock, oleg). Even Kimo admitted how they lied about him having a black belt to enter UFC. why royce didnt fight Bas Rutten, Ernesto Hooste, Gene LEbell students. It was used to mainstream there style fighting to make money!

  • thease people kill me about brazilian fighters are the revolutionist of grappling everything brazil learned they learned from Japan fighters. And Romans/Middle east/Africa is were grappling contest began There are top Brazilian FIghters but there were alot before brazil entered the scene.

  • Cant believe Eddie Bravos name is on a Drysdale thread. Robert is a Champion, Eddie is famous for his flexibility and defeating Royler.

  • and creating a completly different style of jiu-jitsu you can count on one hand how many people have done that

  • you have a point, but i can say from personal experience that the gi has taken my no-gi game to another lvl. he is a funny mother though, i heard was autographing bongs at the arnolds lol!

  • yeah i agree that's one thing i diagree about with eddie the gi totally makes my no gi much tighter(especially my defense). that's hillarious about him signing bongs.

  • Actually, "no-gi" styled wrestling has been around for centuries and I've YET to see anything new that has been "created" and not used by someone else. When are you bjj guys going to realize that everything you do comes from Kosen Judo?

  • If it's "been around for centuries", you idiot, then it's Greco in nature and not from Judo. Assbag.

  • Interesting. I don't recall posting that "judo" has been around for centuries. If you knew how to read properly, you'd know that I wrote nothing of the sort. I made two very distinct points. One, there is nothing "created" -- only discovered...and its all been around WAY before bjj. Secondly, I said that BJJ DERIVES FROM "KOSEN" JUDO -- NOT KODOKAN JUDO. Perhaps you should go back and look in your own bag -- your ass is there...not mine. Try learning to read next time.

  • Ummm Judo comes from Jiu Jitsu

  • sure does

judo was originally a sub-set of juijitsu techniques(the less dangerous ones that could be practiced daily)

  • No, actually.

    It never was.

Look at the original rules for a kodokan competition, and see how dangerous it really was.

  • Actually, Kodokan Judo derives mainly from Kito Ryu Jujutsu -- not "jiujitsu". However, bjj (only the ne/katame waza of true Jujutsu) comes from the ne/katame waza of Fusen Ryu then further modified into what is called "Kosen Judo". Kodokan emphasizes body throwing (tai-nage waza) and Kosen Judo emphasizes grappling (ne/katame waza). Mitsuyo Maeda studied Kosen Judo and then taught it to the Gracie family and others. I don't understand why none of you care to learn your history properly.

  • Because that would take time and actual study... I wanna be a cage fighter NOW!!! (sarcasm on the 2nd part)

  • other way around buddy

  • haha you're an idiot judo is the spawn of jujitsu.

  • Nope. Kodokan Judo derives mainly from Kito Ryu Jujutsu (as I have posted numerous times now). But bjj derives from "KOSEN JUDO" -- not Kodokan Judo. Don't blame me if you none of you know your history. And the correct way to spell it is "Jujutsu". There are no "i's" in the word at all. Learn to spell before spouting at someone concerning idiocy. Your mirror is yelling.

  • So what happens when they realize everything comes from kosen Judo? Let me guess-there games with elevate. You yourself said nothing is created only discovered. [Zothos] "it's irrelevant who came up with what so long as it works". It gets annoying having jealous one dimensional assholes invade every thread and bash BJJ/MMA practicioners about "reparations" they should receive because something was stolen from judo dan secret techniques. Times are a changing so evolve or you will be left behind.

  • It's really irrelevant who came up with what so long as it works. I seriously doubt Eddie cares whether he came up with the Rubber Guard, or some guy from Brazil created it. His whole premise is that the no-gi game is drastically different than the gi game.

  • Good technical look at the entire move.

  • ... I don't think Eddie claimed the move as his own.

  • this isnt an eddie bravo move. haha. this move has been used in brazil for over 10 years.haha

  • Nice variation on the swim move!

  • That's Eddie Bravo's swim move!! Good move, glad to see someone else use Eddies stuff.

  • ARE YOU BLIND

  • this is good technique

  • good stuff
