Think about it Ted, realizing this dream, you could make A LOT of money. There is a huge market for this in the USA. You could be a pioneer! You just need some a bit of capital to start with. That is probably the hardest part.
I installed it on my own. Just had to get the electrician to install a power outlet which set me back $150. Otherwise, if you can hug your wife, you should be able to install it.
@tedkyo If I build another house, I will ask them to install a power outlet next to each toilet bowl. We added an RJ-45 (wired Ethernet) with every phone jack (even behind the TV - good for today's Internet-enabled TVs) but we did not think about the outlets by the toilet bowl. It took a trip to Japan to experience Toto. :-)
Hi, I am Ted's wife. If I use the dryer I will need to sit on the seat for a while, so I must tell you I still use the paper in the morning when I am in a hurry. It is good for ladies especially you want to clean your front. There is a button to make it stronger and lighter so easy to adjust to the power you want. I have to kick my husband out as he can sit on the nice cozy heated seat reading the golf magazine forever! It was worth every penny.
Ted, I was reading all the comments and realize that you live in NJ. We live in NJ too, could you please give me the contact info of who I can get to installed?
@aawhite998 I got mine installed by tsu-tech in Edgewater, NJ. 1-888-575-8080. I think it's just a 1 man operation. I remember the owner Matt telling me he went to Buffalo or someplace like that to install a bunch for a Japanese company so he doesn't mind travelling.
Very good demonstration. I am thinking of getting it, do you need to call electrician & plumber to install? Could you please give me some idea on how much the installation cost was for you. Appreciate your help.
@aawhite998 The material cost is about $895 and the total cost to install was $1400. That includes the electrical work to put in a new outlet and also my toilet needed some repairs inside the tank. I don't remember what the repairs were though.
I just got back from Japan, I was always afraid to use the ones in the NRT airport. This time I stayed with a friend and enjoyed using the Washlet. The heated seat was a nice touch since the mornings were cold. I also liked the way the flusher worked vs the one on existing US toilets. Time to do some more research.
I hardly ever use public toilets so it hasn't been an issue with me. I would use it though. Heated seats are great, aren't they? Real heated seats, not the regular seats that only feel heated since someone just used it!
Here in Manhattan, KS, I'm one of the only few in town with a bidet-seat. Maybe a few Japanese expatriates, and some residents of the affluent Colbert Hills, might have them as well.
nice video...i am a 15 year old boy and i want one of these so bad.....i am getting the S-300......these should be in every store in canada and usa!!!!!!!! for everyone.......watch my video "hitler gets mad over bidet"...............its funny....paper is soooo cave man!!!!!! we all should use pure water to clean our selves.
$1400 is nothing for what it does. You can save a lot more by eliminating showers and cleaning yourself with a dry paper towel. Let me know how that works out.
You can also keep a hairdryer near the toilet to dry your butt after washlet use.
Alternatively, a bucket full of small towels would also be helpful, along with a container for the "used" towels that need to be thrown into the washing machine. (IKEA and Home Depot have 10-packs of small towels for around 10 bucks.)
No. I think you're talking about the ones where the lid automatically opens as you approach. This model is not it. FYI, the lid should always be kept down to keep the seat warm. Also, to keep the cat out! :-)
I've been using Washlets here in Japan for the past 20 years, and boy I can never go back! Not cheap, but deal with the aftermath of one overly-spicy meal and you don't care anymore! :D
Cool that it's in English. Didn't know they made those.
The "soft cleanse" is not lower pressure. It is an aerated stream versus the steady stream of the regular cleanse. Both cleansing modes allow adjustable pressure from the adjustments behind the flip-down door.
The deodorizer is great. Just press the button to activate and it sucks air out of the bowl area and through a carbon filter to remove odor.
The deodorizer's fantastic! Didn't even give this feature a thought initially but now, if I could transfer 1 feature of the washlet to the bathroom at work, I would pick deodorizer. Then I could benefit from it without even sitting on the toilet!
I have installed a few of those for customers. They usually run about $1300 to $1500 installed. There needs to be an GFI electrical outlet for it to plug into. So there is the cost for the electician to show up as well.
As someone already commented in another washlet demonstration, toilet paper lobbyists wouldn't be so happy about washlet toto. they would never let your dream come true. be realistic!
Great Job Ted! I found these at Narita airport 4 years ago and ALWAYS use one. After a 10 hour flight to Tokyo, these Washlets are a piece of heaven.

@surfing636 Thanks! Once you use one, it's tough to live without it. Now, if I could just convince my company to install one.....

is there a gap in the seal of the seat and does the entire seat shake in the frame ?
lvboats 11 months ago
@lvboats
Not sure what you mean but there is a gap between the seat and the toilet rim just like a regular toilet. Also, there is nothing that shakes.

So what happens if there is a power outage? you gotta hold it?

That's one option. There are many others involving wetnaps or spray bottles that you can go with. :-)

I agree. Other than the outlet, the rest should be pretty straightforward to install.

The deodorizer is great. Just press the button to activate and it sucks air out of the bowl area and through a carbon filter to remove odor.
