For all you people who doubt Taufik now. Yes LD and LCW are more consistent and arguably better than him nowadays, but back then Taufik was the best. And no Taufik of 2004 vs. LD of 2008 comparisons. Without the sad defeat LD endured in 2004's first round, there wouldn't have been the LD we knew in 2008.

taufik hidayat . the first time i saw him in television is when i was so young and still a child. i like him so. now he is waiting for his generation in men's single. but no one. i think sony or simon just stuck in reverse. until now, he still be the best one from indonesia. i still be proud for him, cause until today, he still stay in the best 3 in this world .

Taufik and Peter Gade are two legends who have been supremely consistent and kept themselves injury free... This is too very difficult to do in a very demanding game like badminton. Guys who think LCW and Lin Dan are great show some respect to these two legends who till date make it Semi-Finals and Finals consistently. These two posses the art and skills which are even missing in LCW and Lind Dan, who are too very fast and aggressive on the court.

To me these 4 are the best that the world has.

@zerosum88 Excuse me, but have you watched the world cup 2005 when Taufik beat both Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan? In his final against Lin dan, he was leading the first game 11-0 and won 15-3. In the second game, Lin Dan was leading 7-3 but lost 7-15. Also, in the final of men singles in the Asian Games of 2006, Lin Dan was leading 20-17 in the second game but Taufik got 5 straight points to end the match.

By the way, you said that Taufik was lucky because Lin Dan was too careless in his first match in Athens 2004? Well that just proves that Lin dan was not mature enough to be Olympic champion in 2004. He did it in 2008 and deserved it, but in 2004, it was Taufik's turn to win it. The same thing happened in the Asian Games of 2006. Taufik proved to be mentally tougher than Lin Dan.

He is a very talented player.. His backhand skill is superb. from my view as a badminton lover, nobody can be compared to him interm of backhand and foot skills. but,his problem is consitency. Yesterday,he was very energetic and focused, today he looks weak & lose his touch,and tmorrow be the king of badmintan again..
