  • You guys played this very well!!.... The first time I heard this piece I fell in love with it!! My quartet is learning this piece right now. I must say, this is the hardest quartet I've ever played!! The fifth movement is a BEAST!! :)

  • row, row, row your boat...

  • Just heard the Oasis Quartet play this this past weekend. Mind-blowing. The altissimo in the soprano is disgusting.

  • What's the name of the tune at 8:36? I couldn't help but notice it was used in his 5th Symphony (Mvt. I) as well.

  • @267arm I may be wrong, but I believe that it is part of Bach chorale variation. It's likely he used it in that symphony as well because it's a pretty popular chorale melody

  • Hi Everyone, Thank for you comments and criticisms... Keep in mind, the Amethyst Quartet never recorded this piece professionally. This video was recorded, by amateurs, as an entry video for Fischoff. Likewise, this was recorded over 3 years ago. If I had to play it again, I would probably do some interpretative things differently as music changes overtime. Either way, Thanks for watching...

  • @stealthmilk I think their interpretation of it has a few funky things. Also I don't know if it is just this recording but the tenor player is almost nonexistent in the sound coming from the quartet. I feel like there is not a definitive recording of this piece. This quartet to me sounds kind of thin and a little reedy. Red Line play it with too heavy of a style. In the Japanese recording there is a lot of lining up issues that occur. just my .02 cents

  • @theplaytester2 .02 of a cent? your opinions must not matter very much then

  • @biznock19 I was trying to say 2 cents. I was going to write it like $.02 and switched the way I wanted to say it without proofing.

  • Also in no way am I saying they sound bad. They sound really good. Especially the soprano players altissimo register. I just do not like the interpretations that are being called definitive.

  • awesome!

  • Nails those Altissmo notes!!!! Ugh, the second high one is soooo close to being in tune. Incredible. It's obvious the amount of preparation that has gone into this.

  • very very good;) congratulations....!!!!

    beautiful sound

  • I honestly can't get enough of these quartet videos . . . so brilliantly done! Kind of a random question, but my I ask what kind of camera you guys used to record this?

  • I've listened to this probably eleven times in the past week.

    Ridiculous.

  • @thedynamic2

Try listening to Red Line Sax Quartet performing this, you might poop yourself.

  • @mobius1ne Listened to it. Better? I think not. I'm still cleaning myself off from listening to this.
