Hey, I'm 13 and I recently did a sports day. Somebody else had put my name down for High Jump and I only found out I was doing it at the last minute. I had never practiced before but I won the competition and got to 152cm/5 Foot. Can anyone tell me wether this is good for my age?
Don't get deterred by what THibaut jumped. He is a real freak.
THe three 12 years boys I coach jumped 1.45 to 1.53 m at our local high school Zone competition.
So 1.52 m is good for first attempt. Try and get some coaching. Otherwise, use the videos I have uploaded, particularly those of Hollis Conway. Get someone to video you and look at how you are going.
@erniepond1 Oh thankyou :) I didn't expect a response as quickly as this. I'm from the UK and some of my teachers at school have recommended me to certain clubs. I'l give it a shot then :) Thankyou :D
well you could watch my epic fail at Under 14's NSW all schools
but that wont do you any good, ill try get one of my friends to film it, well if you came C.A.S or one of the meets on a Saturday you could. this is going to be a mad year
how tall is ivor now im 1.74 now i think, and i'll also try put some more videos up and jumping ones more
Just a few boys have an innate ability to jump high. Australia has the mild all year climate to permit outside training even in the middle of winter. I will be seeing Thibaut on Sunday morning to brush up his run up and to correct his over the bar body twist.
I started to coach him when he was 9, so I think this helped a lot.
Glad to help . Thibaut is a real high jump freak but took some three years to get his roll around the bar layout. Not perfect but to get 1.81m is no mean feat.
Thibaut is a high jump freak. I seem to pick one out every five years or so. I started coaching him from age 9 at Little Athletics. Tribaut took some 12 months to get going but after that -WOW ! Hope he keeps he interest as so many teens seem to give up too easily.

Internet is very quick. Being somewhat devoted to high jumping, I really enjoy trying to help anyone who responds to my videos.
Have a good day,

how the fuck does he jump so high at age 13, but some people do great and but then years go by and they stay the same
happen with tall people cause everyone is small in year 7 and then they grow
but some people just reach there max and cant get any higher, they reach there best at an early age

@K33nBarrie
Time will tell. Thibaut beat James Watson old record of 1.80m.
James best was 2.24m at world juniors and then retired with a lower back injury.
See bearminded.
NOW, all we need is a video of you doing high jump.

mrmagicmaster101aj 1 year ago
@mrmagicmaster101aj
Measured last week, Thibaut is 5 foot 8 tall and growing!
So, you are very good in jumping 1.57m. This is similar to Dylon who has jumped 1.55m. Same athletic club and high school as Thibaut.

Sorry, just saw your comment. Sounds like James Watson.
I have missed your high jumping. What happened ?
erniepond1 1 year ago
@erniepond1 back injury shortly after world juniors eventually led to me having to give it up :(
bearminded 1 year ago
Sorry you had this problem. Not from overtraining was it ?
I will upload the infamous 12 year NSW All Schools with you and John. I still rib John when I see him about being beaten by you with a broken arm !
Anyway, thanks for comment.
