I think we need a little... a lot more explanation of how adding a proton to element 115 causes the subatomic particles to reverse their spin and become anti-matter. I'm no physicist, but I think that's an extreme, extreme claim that begs explanation. I seem to recall reading in some physics book for lay people that particles NEVER change their spin.

What he's describing is the process by which the decay is forced by the bombardment of particles in what is essentially a particle accelerator. Our particle accelerators perform the same function today, except that they are MUCH larger, and are used purely for scientific research as opposed to a viable power source as we simply do not have the technological capability to harness it as a power source.

There are 3 forms of known radioactive decay: Alpha, Beta, and Gamma. Gamma is in the form of gamma rays and Alpha takes the form of a Helium nucleus, 2 protons bound with 2 neutrons. Lazar is describing the Beta type which is the form of positrons, or the positive anti-particle of an electrons.
