I don't recall the details, but I checked the imdb page and it says, "Vic's helplessness for not saving Lem boils over after he fails to play peacemaker in a gang war." (Also in this episode, a box of books Lem had ordered online arrived for him, assuming he'd be in prison.)

@POOLIO01 That was in season 6, where the young man who was trying to get out of the drug business dies on the way to the hospital. The episode was incredible, showing Vic in a state of flux, dealing with Lem's death, and his ex's dream about Lem in the afterlife. Vic felt in a way that if he could save the kid that he would in some way save Lem. The meltdown scene had me bawling.

You know, I love this series, best one on TV ever, but that scene at the end of Season 1 where Vic loses his family is some of the worst acting I've ever seen. Compared to the stellar acting throughout the rest of the series, it's not too big of a deal but... Sorry Mmichael!

Great video! This show simply had it all...I've never been more invested in a show. And nothing on tv now remotely comes close to the great story this show produced. I like Southland now but I miss The Shield immensely!!!

That's actually from season one, episode one. I only remember that because that was the initial reason I started watching the show... I saw the trailer and said, "Man, this show looks intense." Best decision I have made as far as TV series go.

Great video. last episode was amazing; Shane killed himself and his family, Ronnie went to jail and Vic got a fate worse than death...a office job....lets just hope they dont make a half hour sitcom called "Life with Mackey"
