It seems like they , due to their allegiance and heart beholden to true speed thrash, haven't gone the commercial route to boost themsleves. The good thing by staying true to your roots is that you keep and slowly grow your fanbase, rather than the giant cash grab that leaves most bands finished. They seem, after all these years, to be stronger than ever. EEEEEEElimination!

I don't know. Anthrax did East Coast Thrash better and at that, I never really cared for East Coast Thrash. It was too punk for me, kind of cheesy. I did like the Cro-Mags though. Mostly though, it was always kind blah. "Not accessible" is kind of a euphemism for suck, don't you think? Justin Bieber isn't accessible for anyone over the age of 13 or male, for instance. You are entitled to your opinion, though. Also, I'll admit that I'd rather listen to Overkill than 99% of the crap out there now!
I never got it with these guys. They were totally lame and cheesy. They were the Grim Reaper of thrash. Ellsworth sucks as a vocalist and the music is pretty boring and totally "blah" even at their best. Overkill lacked that "umph" that got you into metal, thrash and underground music back in the day. They're like some generic garage band trying to figure out how Metallica rocks, but with the imagination, talent and skill of Poison they are precluded from doing anything other than sucking balls.

I remember seeing this years ago and laughing at Bobby G's obvious hero worship for Hetfield, for those who are confused about who looks like who - hetfield started using the white explorer on the Lightning tour - black wristbands etc - must have been 86 - cause he looked like this when I saw them with Cliff Burton on the Puppets tour.

As a kid their music kept me strong and confident as I walked the ruined neighborhoods of Brooklyn. I was always drawn to the "wasteland" parts of town. And their inhabitants. My friends and family thought I was tempting fate. In my travels all over NYC during the "dark" years of the 80s and 90s, I NEVER felt afraid or even remotely concerned with being hurt by my fellow New Yorkers. This was MY place and MY people. And this was MY music. I am always indebted to Metal. A true healing force.

I doubt we'll be seeing any documentaries about their personal torments and internal battles with their childhood trauma. I was in this video. It was taped at a little club called "The World" on the lower east side of Manhatten in an area called "Alphabet City". I think it was on Avenue C. What an awesome experience,but after they played the song like 12 times,I prolly didn't listen to it again til the video premiered on MTV LOL!

bobby gustafson look does looks like james hetfield style but hetfield start looking like that after and justice for (1988) and this video is from under the influence(1987) so actually looks like gustafson by the way overkill rules 10 times harder than metallica

no, Hetfield was into the all black dress and the gibson explorer long before Bobby was, Hetfield is a millionaire and still going strong, whereas Bobby is living in the Ghetto and was kicked out of Overkill in the early 90's and hasent been heard from since

I was in this video. It was taped at a little club called "The World" on the lower east side of Manhatten in an area called "Alphabet City". I think it was on Avenue C. What an awesome experience,but after they played the song like 12 times,I prolly didn't listen to it again til the video premiered on MTV LOL!
