  • the best ever !!!!

  • Of course is Golden Earring, live in the Marque Londen.

    Karl T,he Hague, Netherlands

  • So, it's:"Golden Earring"!

    Now I know...

  • These guys were as good as it gets. Brilliant writing and when playing live they sounded even better than in the studio. Fucking amazing!

  • @jojacool Probably a SG 2000 S. It´s heavy, my brother had one. I have a SG 300, light an comfortable.

  • This is from the Ijsselhal Zwolle 1977 show, a few songs were shown on dutch tv.

Hope this will ever get a proper dvd release...

  • 100, 000 views...a great classic song from Holland's finest rock band. We love you guys in America. Please come and visit us again...

  • Super

  • In realitey theres no way to say whos better than who. When there this good.

  • sounds good...

  • Thanks for posting this. I've never seen film of this era Golden Earring. Their first live album has been one of my favourite records, since I first heard it, not long after it was released.

  • Viva Hollandia!!!

  • @ phroza

When searching in Eelco Gelling edomedianet you can find a funny movie about Eelco Gelling playing as a gueststar with a dutch band.

  • I met Eelco some years ago in Breda, after his show. He told me that the years with the Earring where best of his career. "We played like tigers". And indeed Earring Live '77 is the greatest album ever made by a dutch band. One of the best ever made, by the way.

  • One of the great songs of LIVE '77. I was shocked when Gelling went out of the band, but these guys were ment to be a 4-mans band. Kooymans is a great player too and one of the best songwriters.

  • ABSOLUTELY GREAT BASS GUITAR !!!

  • eelco the best

  • one of the greastest bands ever!

  • Indeed. And this is one of their best songs.

    Heel mooi, jongens! ;o)

  • Simple, but absolutely unforgettable and hypsotising in its repetitiveness. Actually one of the most mindblowing intro's I've ever heard.

  • fully agree moonaa !!

  • radar love is the only song they ever play fuck commercial radio

  • Saw these guys a few times in concert back in those wonderful 70's and they always rocked hard to try to blow the roof off!!! GREAT in other words! Thanks for sharing this rare gem!

  • After so many beers I must really concentrate to write this ... however,,, imagine a little radio station in San Antonio, Texas USA... in 1977 they played this... KISS fm 99.5 thanks Lou Roney and Joe Anthony... they played everything commercial radio did not play...

  • funny, i live in the US (Chi-Town) these days but i grew up in the town this gig was played, called Zwolle, Holland. It's weird to hear less obvious Earring tracks on the radio here....I've heard this song on College radio! The hall they played here is called "IJsselhallen" and has the worst fucking acoustics EVER! They still play there almost every year and i've seen all sorts of gigs there, from Motorhead to Status Quo. Good memories.

  • Do not mind USA can you imagine small town in former Yugoslavia. Sarajevo is name of a town and Disco Club namad CACTUS where DJ played this song allmost evry evening along some much more sirius stoff. Mozda neko iz ove generacije cita ovo. Pozdrav

  • @amirefendic man that's awesome have a nice day!

  • Absolutely great BASS GUITAR Potential !!!

  • The first concert I went to was on Golden Earring's 1977

tour. They opened for Ted Nugent on December 27, 1977

at Market Square Arena in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA.

I went to the show with my best friend Jeff. 32 years later

we're still the best of friends. A good friend, like good

    music, lasts a lifetime.

  • were they better than nug? My guess is yes

  • EELCO rock's

  • This is the rock and roll sound as it is meant to be. The tension and suspense increases during the song and explodes at the end of the song when Eelco Gelling plays a wonderful solo. By the way, the interaction between Eelco Gelling and George Kooijmans was marvelous.

  • i think Barry looks strange with a guitar! haha I like when he just sings

  • They're are the greatest rock band ever. Period. I've gone over to NL from canada and seen them live six times. Four electric and two acoustic shows. If you wanna have fun go to the outdoor electric gig they do every June in Strijen.

  • A great song indeed. You should check out the unplugged version of this song. So good it give's me a chill down my spine listening to it. You can find it on the unplugged cd The Naked Truth 1. I think is track #4. Look it up, you won't regret it! Greetz !

  • wow they are really good here.

  • Great footage, really great. Love Eelco Gelling. Does anyone have Vanilla Queen from this broadcast?

  • It's unbelievably for me to see this video. The Live Record is one of the best live records I know and Mad Love is wonderful.

Does anyone know a DVD from this time? Thanx for posting this video, where is the whole concert?

Love to Golden Earring, they mean much to me since the last 25 years.

  • Don't know a DVD. The concert is on the "Live" CD from '77. Great quality, but some of the long tunes are shortened (Eight miles high, Vanilla queen). I'm waiting for the full show ...

  • I loved Radar Love and Golden Earring but I never knew about all their other wonderful music. Being a babyboomer, this kind of beat makes me feel almost young again, this is what made us feel like we'd never get old!

    Love it, thanks for sharing!

  • best LP

  • vet goed nummer

    heerlijk

    goed gedaan jongens!!!

    groetjes Samuël

  • Great performance of one of Holland's best guitarists (Eelco Gelling) together with one of Holland's best songwriters (George Kooymans) and a great guitar player too. This is great stuff, listen to the solo, awesome!!!

  • a great tune from the Dutch rockers.Another great tune is Cell 29 haven't found it on here yet hope someone posts it in the near future!!!!!!!!!

  • george, we´ll meet again in gronau

  • Bandleader: George Kooymans

    *g*

  • fake

  • The intro solo is a classic! Together with Candy's going bad, this is my favorite song from that Golden Earring era.

  • This song was part of a tv broadcast in Holland but uptill now I haven't found the total broadcast anywhere on the internet.

Who knows where I can find it or please give me more info (name of the broadcast).

  • one of the loudest bands ive heard... and i mean very loud... but what a show

  • I like the solo a lot

  • It's not true. He does actually mention Eelco in the first sentence

  • Fucked up? I do really like the stop/start technique he uses. Not every solo has to be like the usual ones

  • @tommyjob whats fucked up????

  • I agree. Golden Earring first double live album is the tits.... Best in my 4000+ collection

  • Let me add my name to the long list here who consider that double live album to be a classic. It seems so long ago now. I was in college and my friends and I loved it. I haven't heard it since then. I think that I will look for it. Rock on Earring fans...

  • They played fantastic on that album, but really, most of the songs on there I don't care for at all in the first place, except for Candy's Going Bad. I'm a fan, but I don't like the Contraband-era stuff.

  • Earring's live album remains unequaled. Is there any more footage out there of '77 Earring? They were awesome at this time. 30 years later I still try to influence friends with Earring live at the Rainbow. I'd die for video of the boys doing Vanilla Queen late 70's

  • Totaly agree. Earring Live 77, the album of my life. Last year I met Eelco Gelling and I thanked him for this. For him it's also his greatest work. But the guys are life still ok.

  • one of the greatest live-albums EVER made !!!

i must have heard it a 1000 times, it was my first LP, still one of the best i have ... if not THE BEST !!! 10 ********

  • Man, being listening to this on the live CD for years...saw them (one and only time) at Reading town hall in March 1974...just the best

  • Eight Miles High is so einzigartig, sound + feelings UNIKAT

obwohl es ein cover ist (bestestcover)

    wallofdolls

  • Kut gedeleted. But eight miles high is just played by golden earring with Sieb Warner instead of Cesar Zuiderwijk.

  • Golden Eerring Klassiker: all in bestform

  • Such a beautifully played classic! The 1977 live record is one of the best recorded and mixed live records from that decade - easily on par with Deep Purple's Made in Japan - I've had it on high rotation since the day I got it more than twenty years ago. The combination of George and Eelco was something to behold.

  • Ahh still crazy after all these years

    Just got to love them.

  • GE always has been rather a nice band but with Eelco they where awesome. Excellent guitarplaying! The man was at his best at that time. Like to see more videos with Eelco (if possible).

  • sweeter then wine...

  • sweeter then wine...

  • You gotta love Eelco Gelling on slide guitar !!

  • My first concert... 11TH GRADE... they opened for trower (and spooky tooty was the headliner?!? ) best concert ever.......

  • dammm..... that's really good, after 30 years i like even more... my first album ever, and still the best live-album i got !!!!!

    Luc - Gent - Belgium

  • Golden Earring: The best kept secret in Rock......

  • I've got a copy of their live '77 album, and this song always gets a "who the hell is that?". One of those highly underrated bands from the 70's that I believe will become a cornerstone of alt-rock satellite and internet formats of the future. P.S. Don't let the internet royalty increases kill off your choices! Contact your congressman today!!

  • think i'll post everyday a good comment about my favourite band :-)

GREAT STUFFFFFF....... guy's, see you again in Terneuzen in november in Holland ! I'll be there... !

    ..... there's a tourist in the city.....

    Luc

    Belgium

    Luc - Gent - Belgium

  • On of my all time favorites.

The Ace only saw GE twice and that was along time ago! They were touring with Robin Trower and Spooky Tooth. Like I said- it was a long time ago. They were probably the tightest band I ever saw.

  • Man, I've loved Golden Earring's music even before I saw them live at Winterland Arena at Post and Stiner Streets in San Francisco! (I really liked Winterland, too bad it was closed due to "poor ventilation!" George Kooymans is one bad-ass guitar player! Hey, George! You can always send me a guitar!!! Barry, Rinus, and Cesar are awesome musicians! Larry K.

  • the BEST group in the world, what a song !!!!!!!!!!

go and see them, they are GREAT, VERY great !!!!!!

  • In Belgium it's hard to find this song on cd.But I found a live version.Just awesome!

  • Unique material. Eelco Gelling and the Earring was in fact a bit like the Stones and Mick Taylor. Especially when he's playing blues slide, like he's doing here.

  • Best earring song ever, also listen to the acoustic versions they are even better

  • Fantastic song. And the solo was awesome!

  • One of my favorites for Earring.

  • Why is this song not played much here in the states?? Great song.

  • Eelco was a good addition for the live album, but as far as classic G.E. goes they didn't need him.

  • great eelco and great band

  • unreal... no band compares to them live

  • Wow, nice footage, where does this originally come from ?? Never saw GE live footage with Eelco.

Eelco was to good in playing, that's why Kooymans kicked him out, too bad he deserves better

  • Kooymans kicked him out because he couldn't follow the tempo without using drug. He had the blues but he didn't have the kick my ass rock 'n roll.

  • This an unique musical document. I have never heard this song before. GE and Eelco Gelling should come together for one more time. Eelco deserves a big audience once more.

  • shoutsact--this whole concert's on vinyl/cd--GE's 1977 live album, 'golden earring: live'. two-record set. one of the best live rock albums ever.

  • sweet - one of the best rock bands ever. So under-rated.

  • I've been listening to this song for years, but this is the first time I've ever seen it performed. Eelco is amazing, I always liked his playing with GE.

  • Eelco is the best

I think he has never saw this video. I will show it to him.

  • wow this is great, a very good live version of the song, with Eelco Gelling on 2nd guitar!

  • Wow. This is a real gem. One of Golden Earring's greatest songs. Thanks for posting this.
