The woman, I believe was Roy's first wife Claudette. She was killed in a motorcycle accident around 1965 0r 66 as I recall. Roy wrote the song Claudette that the Everly Brothers recorded about her.

When Stephan Foster wrote this he lived in the what was what we call the Bowery in NY. He was in a drunken stooper. He died soon after. What a shame to have that much talent and have a drinking problem.
