7:49 - 7:53 You hear that? You hear that!? "I've seen that too!?" That's a dead giveaway that the Scarecrow is actually Dr. Syn. It's a shame that the naval picket captain didn't catch that after having spoke with him earlier in the film ("Oh, yes! I've seen you at the assize courts...").

Only during/after the war of 1812 by then the Yanks really produced (although a small number) of very, very good ships their superlative naval victories during that conflict were impressive. Prior to that unfortunately Britannia did indeed rule the waves :)

Hehe that maybe true but only a small precentage of the Navy were actually pressed. But the British Navy did pretty damn well throughout the period ask the French or the Americans :)

@TheNeopagan In general, the British were required to have two frigates to be permitted to attack one US frigate. The US Navy was that superior.

I would imagine that if you split the skull of every "recruit" you came across it would make for a dim witted navy

@SuperCowboy62 Well, the Scarecrow only showed up at night. During the day, he's Dr.Syn and by the way, while that was all happening, he told Mipps (the guy with the exaggerated broken shoulder) to follow the press gang and to keep his eyes and ears open to everything they did.
