  • I've not heard this version from Brubeck..I like it even better than his original from the Dave Digs Disney album. You are so right on about his influence...him and Tatum , the 2 best, with Garner a close third in my opinion..followed by the great Evans, then Teddy Wilson. My personal order only of course...

  • This is where Bill Evans heard the tune he gets cred for in all the fake books... same for "someday my prince will become." Brubeck is one of the most influential pianists and composers of all time. He opened the doors of 'out' time for the next generation of jazz greats!

  • Just to have these two giants playing in my front room......heaven and so very very gifted.

  • This was The Duets recording, made at Dave's home, a collectors item.

  • i have been looking for this cut for quite sometime. i have on vinyl though but seeing it posted here makes a whole lot of difference. Thank you very much for posting!

  • this version and the bill evans trio are both so great :). Jazz is so timeless. <3

  • the only senator I ever respected- Gene Wright! :) classic group

  • So nice!

  • Paul Desmond is one of the best. Thanks for uploading this.

  • This would be Gene Wright (bass) and Joe Morello (drums) wouldn't it be? The original quartet. Beautiful!

  • @MrRea112 Actually, this photo is the most famous quartet —that being —along with Dave on piano— Paul Desmond on alto sax, Joe Morello on drums, and Eugene Wright on bass —However, this cut is from Dave's wonderful 1954 release —"This Is Jazz Vol.3", which had the same line-up, with the exception of Norm Bates on bass...

  • Brubeck and Desmond playing standards. Mmmmmm =]

  • yet another thing to add to my "next transcription" list. lol.

  • Paul Desmond is my hero

  • hey mine too!

  • @Nisstyre56

Desmond is my hero also. No one ever has or ever will blow an alto like he did.
