  • great song I use it for my phone ring tone ^^

  • @ShoegazeNukeDeployed Wow ! That is awesome. Thanks mate. Any chance U could upload a vid of Ur fone playing it? Would be honoured if you did :-)

  • @kingligger sure thing

  • @kingligger just gotta get a copy of microsoft movie maker to upload the clip since I hated the program I used last time to make a video, I'll see if I can get it up today to tomorrow for you :3, do you want the whole tune to play while I hold the phone or just a bit of it,

  • @ShoegazeNukeDeployed . Fantastic. Thank you so much. About 20 seconds would do nicely. Thanks again. It's much appreciated :-)

  • Pretty much speechless. Now that's real chiptune! You made this with Ubik's Music? Wow!

  • You Sir, are my hero. Long live the sons of Hubbard!

Any chance of getting a higher quality file like say and mp3? If so just give me a shout.

  • Thank you for that very flattering comment. The best possible quality I could send you them would be a SID player with the actual Sid files. Simple to operate. No problem.

  • Sold!

Got a Sid player so no probs.

    Cheers

  • love it !

  • great ;]

  • one of the coolest c64 sounds ever...

but rob hubbard's lead is fuckin cool, too.

  • great work! 80's style!!

  • I love C64 music.

  • Great work, both on sounds and compositions.

  • Really pro stuff this

  • kick ass!

  • how do i make C64 music?

  • You need to write it in a Hex code on a tracker, GoatTracker is a good C64 tracker to use. if you have never used a tracker or ever used HEX before it might be hard to get used of. Just read the read me's and stuff like that. an example of how you write would be like 02F25 <- That means second insturment change speed of tracking to strong 2 low 5.

  • hey thanks for the info. I admit it does in fact sound a little hard, but i'll give it a shot.

  • sounds a bit hard? it sounds like you need a degree in maths, physics, and music, to get that shit, thank fuck for Reason4 and Cubase sx3.

  • mrkallen, sid programming it's not to bad if you know about synthesis. like old synths moog / arp etc.. thats how you make up the sounds.. and then you just call them in a list (pattern) and put in fx.. you use reason 4.. try making up some patches in thor =) or maelstrom / subtractor is more c64 single channels .. using presets is fine, but it's better when ya make ya own.. eXodes new pack is excellent though and free.

  • Sounds really easy, however try doing it from hex on a 64. Good luck men

  • there is no need to... just get Cosine's Excellent EMS ;-) off their website.. hehe.. or sid-duzz-it or .. goat tracker etc etc .. makes life a bit more simpler..

  • How the hell do you know all that info? are you part cyborg. wouldn't it just be better to sample each individual sound you need from a C64

and play em back through an up to date sequencer?

  • yeah that'll work, i guess. Something that sounds so simple should be simple to make, but oh no. Quite contrary, it seems

  • U hit the nail on the head mate. Not easy

  • Doesn't quite work. First the variety of sounds is pretty great, and the way the timing will not vary with frequency on C64 as it would after sampling. Second, a lot of C64 sound is about interaction of sounds from multiple channels with a less-than-perfect amplifier (more like a single transistor) for the filters. Recent reSID FP emulation engine comes close though, but it eats almost a whole CPU core to emulate a simple 3-channel device...

  • C64 sounds great. And this songs is great too =)

  • Nice, sid really hits the spot for me ;) Dunno if I am too simple minded for anything more than 3 sounds at a time ;D No room for useless fooling around with this format. I like. A lot! 5 stars :)

  • U R a musician & a programmer

  • Can you get a C64 emulator for a Mac?

  • They have great emulators and may have one for you at emulator-zone. com

  • jmak google "winvice" =)

  • 5 stars for this one kingligger, you really know your stuff!!!

  • Cheers mate. It'll all be famous again one day :-)

  • yes.. you never know.

people will look back.. and surely enough they'll realize how good it is.

  • i wish there were a site for c64 music as mp3 :o) i'm a fan.

  • Get a sidplayer and then get High voltage sid collection, they are in .sid format and sounds exactly like c64 songs:

    remix.kwed dot org

and you can get a remix version in mp3 format from:

    remix.kwed dot org

  • Stone Oakvalley's Authentic SID Collection.

  • hey i'm just wandering how do you make music on C64's, i don't really know anything about it, i'm only 15 lol. what do you need to get started, if someone could please help me it would be great!

  • Hi there. Best way to do it these days is get a c64 Emulator for your pc. Search for VICE64 and download it. Then you will need a music composing program for it. I use Ubiks music. You can also download that from the net. There are many others but I prefer that one. If you are serious I can mail you the instructions for it because they're impossible to find on the net. Good Luck

  • if you don't have a website: slystoner[at]gmail[dot]com for the sid, tank you very much :)

I'll put it on my car cd player as soon as possibile.

    back to basic!

    less is more!

    you ruleZ man ~:D ~:D ~:D

  • Hi there. Great comments Thanks:-)

Do you have a C64 emulator? I could send you the track to play on it if you do. At the moment I don't have it as a sidfile. I will be sending this tune and many more to The High Voltage Sid Collection very soon and hopefully they will convert it into a sidfile for me. Hope you enjoyed my other sidtunes too

  • ok! sent me to slystoner[at]gmail[dot]com

I'll try to extract the sid from the track.

Let us know when you'll add yuor music to HVS Collection.

    See you soon.

  • where can I download the SID?

    It's amazing!

  • Respect. Most of the guys nowadays could not even copy this sound by using up-to-date software because they simply have no idea about programming and sequencing. What you have done has a lot more to do with composing than with copy, paste + loop ready made samples. Any new music in progress?

  • Hi there. Thanks for the positive response. Yeah. I've just transferred all of my floppy disks over to pc and am going to be composing using the old 64stuff directly onto pc thru a c64 emulator. Just getting my head around it all again. Phew. Its been 20 years lol

  • Thanks Robotto. there's more where this came from. I'll be uploading more tunes soon :-)

  • Have you submitted this to 'The High Voltage - Sid Collection' ?

  • I'm in the process of getting my old 5 1/4" disks converted to disk images for the pc. Once I've got all my tunes together I'll be sending them to the HVSC

  • Excellent. I fucking love the SID sound!!! Makes me go all goosepimply

  • I totally agree zombiegod. Thanx for commenting. The SID was an enigma !! blame or love it for what happened to music after it appeared (not literally of course lol)

  • Outside of Hubbard, and some of Galway, Whittaker and Daglish stuff, that is as good a bit of SID as I have ever heard. Fair play. Love the bass dropping in and out. Sh*t I am 12 again.

  • That is one MIGHTY compliment you've paid me kingbuxton !! Cheers mate :-)

  • Cheers Bazza. John Stormont was my C64 psuedonym LOL

  • I've got a catchy psuedonym, Barry John Cochrane.

  • Respec' BJC from ya Bro JKS. Rollin' Rollin'

  • Wow thats out of it's time. Im sure they danced to that on early episodes of The Word with some psychadelic background graphics. AWESOME WORK? Who's John Stormont Though???
