I've been doing tuna meat only diet (65% Raw Veggies, 30% Tuna(watered), 3% Carbs, & 2% Diary products) & as of February(2011) I was 275lbs now I'm 212lbs(I'll probably be less by morning as seems I've been losing 1 or 2lbs in my sleep). On my recovery days I'm carb it up with tons of flax-seed. My goal is 195lbs so I will qualify for the USCG or US Army. Once I finally make it through camp hopefully I'll be down to 180lbs so I can start bulking up.
ive included about 2-4 cans of tuna in my toning diet that ive created myself. its been 6 days and ive lost 4.5kgs and my abs are becoming hugely defined and i just want to share it with you guys.
so in the morning i eat either oatmeal with water or skim milk and a dab of honey and a medium sized banana
lunch i have garden salad and tuna (i mix the tuna with halfa lemon and salt and pepper so its not so dull) mixed together
and the same for dinner. it leaves me full and energetic aswell
But what this doesn't show is: BODY FAT %. Sure, you lost 10Lbs, but of which was that fat or muscle? Such a low calorie deficit may result in muscle loss. I'd be interested to know your BF before and after the 3 days, will you post?
@WiredEvolution Here's the thing... I didn't have my body fat taken right before and after, otherwise I'd gladly post. I regularly get in the BodPod (well, once a month) but all the readout really says is Fat Free Mass vs Fat Mass. I don't know how to get a breakout of bones / muscles / water. I highly doubt you'll actually lose muscle in 72 hours. I'm willing to bet on it's excess fat and fluid that's lost vs muscles. Aside form the scale, I looked a lot leaner after than I did before.
@ronastrahan Fair comments, but next time you do this be sure to take as many measurements before and after! :) Use fat callipers, you should have a pair with you and log your measurements as much as possible.
@WiredEvolution Despite our varying views, I believe this is the most civil conversation that I've had with anyone on youtube. So... I have bodpod appointments for the morning next Monday & Thursday, and I'll be eating 6 cans of tuna / day Mon-Wed... I'm not too keen on calipers, but I'll be tested by the same person so... What pinch sites should I have surveyed?
How big were your cans of tuna? I eat 130g (drained) tuna cans. If I were to eat 6 of those a day exclusively it would only be 905 calories which sort of worries me as that's defiantly my body going into starvation mode!
Don't get me wrong I'm not putting it down, I'm curious about this method, but how much of that weight loss was fat and how much was water and muscle? If the cans were bigger and it was at least 1500 calories (at least) per day I might be tempted to give this a shot!
I forgot to ask.....during these 3 days, were u still working out and lifting? If so, what were the effects of this diet on your performance in your workout? Thanks.
Call me crazy, but i think those results are kick-ass! 10lbs in 3 days-- hell yeah, that's what i'm talking about!! Now I'm not at physical-level that you are ronastrahan, but I'd be willing to try it.
Would you advise this diet to the typical individual who is just looking to lose weight?
I think that the tuna/water thing is meant to prepare you mentally. From what i understand at least. Since there are tons out there with bad habits, when they go to compete they won't look good because they're not prepared to do what it takes. So this is like psychological re-evaluation. Once you're done with the 3 grueling days you'll be good to go and the contest prep won't seem that bad.
this *tuna&water* suposed diet of 3 days is only good for people who were taking test like draper and like you said BODYBUILDERS i know you think its hardcore and its a goal but eating nothing but solid tuna n water contrairy to people who are roiding will shut down your balls due to low fat &cholesterol making your body unable to make hormones and as en endomorph like you with low test and high estrogen i would so not recomend this shit
@stryker4750 heres something I didnt even know: "Your body produces three to four times more cholesterol than you eat. The production of cholesterol increases when you eat little cholesterol and decreases when you eat much. This explains why the prudent diet cannot lower cholesterol more than on average a few per cent." amazing hey?
@ketogenesis the body needs extra fats to produce test you genius i know what im talking about OK i dieted for 5 months last year without any fat because i didint knew how to diet and fucked up my hormones low libido strenght endurance size and hardness so do wtf u want but i know im right
Glad to see you're still at it, you looked good at that strong man competition video a while back. That's a crazy diet, but doable. I will have to try it soon (or as close as family will allow before calling the mental hospital).
how much do u work out doing the diet and can u put crackers with the tuna

So you just had plain tuna several times a day and lost crazy weight? But what about a permanent weight loss and weight management?
