I planted kohlrabi, but didn't realize it needed to be started indoors. I put them in tiny peat pots in a corner of a new raised bed back in March. They finally sprouted in mid May after I was sure they were gone and I had forgotten about them. Now they are quite a nice size, but next time I will start them indoors. :D
@antfiresbetter You can sow them either way. When sowing outside sow very thinly. Next year I'll plant outside and see what the difference is. I just sowed inside because March and April were so cold.
Kohlrabi is a wonderful vegetable. I raised it several years ago and don't know why I stopped. Sort of a root vegetable that grows above ground. Can be cooked like turnips, but I prefer it raw. Peel off the tough skin, slice and soak for a few hours in a mixture of vinegar, water, salt and black pepper. Cucumbers and onions can be fixed the same way. Quick pickles.
