I bought one of these for about $170 on eBay and I hated the touch screen at first, but since there was such a big gap between the plexicover and the touch screen itself, I was able to use a very sharp knife to cut away the extra plastic. I tried using it sunken in, and it worked WAY better but I just took it off completely and now, despite that it doesn't run a few apps, I really like it :)

The "UI" lag is because of the resistive touchscreen. You can also watch movies on that. The resistive touchscreen does not update the imput as frequently as a capacitive screen so you get, what seems like, interface lag. It is a cheap resistive. Have you used a DSi/DS/3DS? they have good resistive touchscreens.

It can actually play YouTube? Multitouch screen? That's really a lot better than I'd assume it'd be. And you can buy them for a cheap as a tenth of the price.

The things actually aren't crap. They obviously aren't as good as the iPad, but the price you can get them for makes up for it (like $70 from eBay VS a $400 iPad from eBay).
