Ahmose was Tut's Great great great great great great great grandfather. The bible never said who was pharaoh during the exodus. Even if what you said is true, Tutankhamen's father had a tomb in Amarna, NOT the valley of the kings. While it's true Tut's tomb wasn't originally made for him, it was made for Horemheb, his advisor.
i remember seeing all of that stuff in the San Francisco exhibit a while back, i think it'll be here for a few more weeks, but i was disappointed that i didn't get to see the actual king tut. Isn't he in Cairo or something?
King Tut's actual body is still in his sarcophagus in his tomb. Egypt decided just to leave him in his tomb, and not put him in a museum. But recently I believe they took his body to the Cairo Museum for genetic samples.
Wow looking at this, the one King Tut exhibit i saw in Toronto, Ontario, was nothing compared to this! i feel so ripped off, wish they had more of his treasures, especially his mask!
Well i went with my family(5 people) and it cost us about $80. But i apologize i don't know the cost individually. Well the first room is of various Egyptian kings and royalty, they have statues, wall carvings, some jewelery. Then for the actual King Tut exhibit they have some and very few of his burial items, they have a couple of his canopic jars, they have his bed, lots of jewelery. Although i am an avid ancient Egypt fan, i was disappointing as i wanted more king tut.
....However if you are into purely Ancient Egypt the exhibit is good for the artifacts because the ROM doesn't have it so its a unique group of items. So i guess it really depends on what you are looking for. If its king tut don't go, it is a waste of time and money, but if you are into the wider spectrum of Ancient Egypt i would go. Good luck:)
I seen this at the Chicago Field museum back in '06. Was a good exhibit. You had to book in advance by buying tickets online. I then was so inspired to actually travel to Egypt last October to see all the treasures and ancient sites. It's really cool if only the Egyptians weren't so mad at us for our financial crisis debacle that caused them a world of hurt where their cost of living doubled. I was disappointed with how negative they acted, but must understand their situation. Rough trip.

This was an amazing event.... My agency was tapped to provide Egyptian belly dancing and music. I really enjoyed performing for this incredible exhibit at The Franklin Institute....As a Middle Eastern dancer, and as a cultural Anthropologist....It was very special for the city of Philadelphia to welcome this exhibit.
I saw it in Chicago back in August of '06. It was cool. I'm going to Egypt this Fall. I always was fascinated about King Tut and the ancient world since seeing pictures of this stuff when I was young. Kinda worried they might shut the Cairo museum at any moment to prepare the objects for the new museum due to open next year. They are not saying anything yet. I would be so highly disappointed to go to Egypt and be told, "NO, you can't view the gold Tut mask, you can't view the museum."

Ahmose was Tut's Great great great great great great great grandfather. The bible never said who was pharaoh during the exodus. Even if what you said is true, Tutankhamen's father had a tomb in Amarna, NOT the valley of the kings. While it's true Tut's tomb wasn't originally made for him, it was made for Horemheb, his advisor.

King Tut's actual body is still in his sarcophagus in his tomb. Egypt decided just to leave him in his tomb, and not put him in a museum. But recently I believe they took his body to the Cairo Museum for genetic samples.

Well i went with my family(5 people) and it cost us about $80. But i apologize i don't know the cost individually. Well the first room is of various Egyptian kings and royalty, they have statues, wall carvings, some jewelery. Then for the actual King Tut exhibit they have some and very few of his burial items, they have a couple of his canopic jars, they have his bed, lots of jewelery. Although i am an avid ancient Egypt fan, i was disappointing as i wanted more king tut.

....However if you are into purely Ancient Egypt the exhibit is good for the artifacts because the ROM doesn't have it so its a unique group of items. So i guess it really depends on what you are looking for. If its king tut don't go, it is a waste of time and money, but if you are into the wider spectrum of Ancient Egypt i would go. Good luck:)

I seen this at the Chicago Field museum back in '06. Was a good exhibit. You had to book in advance by buying tickets online. I then was so inspired to actually travel to Egypt last October to see all the treasures and ancient sites. It's really cool if only the Egyptians weren't so mad at us for our financial crisis debacle that caused them a world of hurt where their cost of living doubled. I was disappointed with how negative they acted, but must understand their situation. Rough trip.

This was an amazing event.... My agency was tapped to provide Egyptian belly dancing and music. I really enjoyed performing for this incredible exhibit at The Franklin Institute....As a Middle Eastern dancer, and as a cultural Anthropologist....It was very special for the city of Philadelphia to welcome this exhibit.

I saw it in Chicago back in August of '06. It was cool. I'm going to Egypt this Fall. I always was fascinated about King Tut and the ancient world since seeing pictures of this stuff when I was young. Kinda worried they might shut the Cairo museum at any moment to prepare the objects for the new museum due to open next year. They are not saying anything yet. I would be so highly disappointed to go to Egypt and be told, "NO, you can't view the gold Tut mask, you can't view the museum."

i saw this exhibit in atlanta over the weekend. i had mixed feelings. i thought it was great to see all of these riches etc.. that has been around for over 5000 years still in relatively good shape. on the other hand, i couldn't help to think that i just paid money to contribute to the robbing and exploitation of ancient egyptian sacred burial sites.

Who cares if they're getting money out of us. The finding of Tut's tomb was a great find. It helped us find the myths from fact and fiction. The cost of bringing king tut's belongings would have cost plenty of money. The only way for them to make that up is to charge us. It's reasonable. It's not a scam. As a history professor, I can say the following: 1-ALL human life came from Africa (Great Rift Valley). 2-Genetic testing suggests that "ancient" Egyptians have very similar profiles to modern Egyptians. 3-Therefore, ancient Egyptians would have looked fairly similar to today's (i.e. lighter-skinned, semetic features). 4-However, DNA also suggests that Egyptians share much with Nubians (modern-day Ethiopians). So, King Tut and his people were most likely black in actuality, but not appearance.
