I've always had the very strange feeling that the last movement of Concerto de Toronto plays an extract of La Balada de la Doncela Enamorada, from El Decameron Negro...
Their was a documentary about "guitar" featuring a lot of this footage.. the documentary included Steve Morse, Ric Emmett, Chuscales , Liona Boyd , Kim Mitchell etc.. Wish I could find the whole thing.
Wonderfull, really. I have the recording (just sound) of this premier of Concerto of Toronto, one can even hear how Willams is passing the pages because he is reading. After this premier Brouwer cut many parts which in my opinion were just beatifull, specially the end of the second moviment. Anyway, if some one want it just let me know
Hi orquestavivace ;-) I played this marvellous Concerto just last week in Bukarest - so reading your comment now is really very interesting - would be great to hear the complete tape of that '87 - the first version of the Toronto Concerto - is there any chance to find it? best wishes - Thomas
hey orquestavivace! I actually am a big fan of Leo Brouwer's music, but I really do not know of the story behind this concerto. Extra parts and stuff... never heard about it before, would so much to know what youare talking about by hearing it! Please contact me :) best regards!
Gracias.
Magical!

what does Brouwer say at 1:25 ?
scrollandkey 1 year ago
@scrollandkey Just a little after 1:25 it gets a bit muddled.. he says ``perhaps I drank too much wine last night`` something along those lines...

What a great musician and guitarist John Williams is! This is a very difficult concerto indeed. Leo Brouwer looked very pleased with the performance.
Thanks for posting.
