There's a lot of old Sesame St material they don't use anymore. I was not the brightest child but I didn't come away thinking Octopusses have ten arms. I don't think that was really an issue.
I loved this song very much. Having been wondered why they don't use it any more.
Now, I know the reason. I didn't know they counted to ten. I guess they think the song is educationally bad or wrong. But it is permissible if they put a line
"An octopus actually has only eigtht legs (or hands whatever).
Even without the video, it is a great song. I want this song on CD or whatever.
Assuming this is from the first year, this is about the same age as 'Joe and the Junebug' and 'A Boy Erasing Things (1,2...).' Both of those animated segments came out in that year as well. I do remember this one fondly, though.
For some strange reason, when I first came here it was showing the wrong clip. What looked like either a Spanish or a Filipino soap opera. It ran longer than 1:03. Then when I hit "reload", I got what I came here to see...the amazing octopus one man band. One of his tentacles seems different from the others. Anyways, it's funny. I wonder who came up with this wonderful song?
Thank you very much for posting it!

They didn't say that the octopus had 10 fingers...they named some instruments with the numbers as well.

It's not really an octopus, more like a decapus.

No, he does have just eight legs, he just uses one each for the trumpet and the drum, if you look carefully.

Just one of those things that you can't ignore once you hear it! Cute and fun.

A perfect 10 in my book (consider those stars clicked twice, if I could).

I'm guessing the person who animated this is Michael Sporn?
