People that dumb shouldnt be in a boat. Ive been through there and if u dont know about a water u should ask before u go through. Its not rocket science. That idiot in the way was lucky he didnt get hit. Oh and musky lure casting fool try pulling that one off on the interstate because i wouldnt think twice about it. Duh
It's called dont be a jackwagon. Those ass-clowns were going way too fast. They think they are special and so cool because they know the water and think they are entitled to throw caution and reason to the wayside and make thier own fucking rules. well Fuck off. if I would have been in that boat that almost got hit, well ha ha lets just say somebody(s) would have taken a muskie plug to the grill :)
the best is going through the mouth from Despair to Mile River, and there is a line of 15 boats.it's like being on the boat ride at the fair when I was a kid.
Regardless, there is signage telling the boat going down (away from you) to Stop, Look, Proceed. The angle he approached at won't allow him to see any oncoming traffic, nor could they see him. Again, the boats travelling up (toward you) have the right of way.
If the guy going down would have approached straight on, he would have seen the other boats coming and would have been able to stop.
I've also seen guys fish on the other side, where you can't see them until you're right on them!
This is the narrows b/w footprint and jackfish lakes, in the clearwater/pipestone chain about 40 min north west of Fort Frances. In response to hilesman, I've been up there for over 30years, and yes you don't need to blast through, but it is easier if you are up on step, just enough to stay on top of the water.
listen here bigfatpolish when we go you`ll be driving and at the last moment you`ll give up control and start crying....i cant do it i cant do it......
i`ve been thru here many times, all you need to do is slow down enough to get thru against the current. there is no need to blast thru there, just enough to keep control of your boat.....
The boats coming toward the camera have the right of way. The boat heading away was at fault, he approached the narrows from a blind angle not being able to see the oncoming traffic, also there is signage telling him to "stop, look, proceed"
There is a fair bit of current in the narrows if the water is high, and there are also quite a few rocks. If you are on step, you are taking on less water and actually have more control of your boat especially going through the current
this is why in canada now, boatin license's a mandatory.. and when investigated, the boat coming out of the mouth on a plain would have be reponsible..
That is a dangerous area. If the water is high you need to go almost on plane to get through. The water is flowing out of the lake that the camera is shooting from. So the boats coming toward you are actually not the ones at fault, it is the guy in the bass boat who is hidden behind a blind corner. There is a sign on a tree that reminds those unfamiliar with the area to be cautious.
total idiots - no regard for anyone elses safety. and you wonder how boat accidents happen - not everyones got a brain thats got a boat license (if they even have one).
say's the last two lost a prop but the second boat to come come through was still under power then started to make a bigger wake when he was getting out the the viewing picture, get it right dumbass.
What is it about a motorboat that inherently turns anyone driving one into an a-hole? Aren't these people on vacation? What's the damn hurry? Slow down and enjoy the scenery.
You need to understand that the boat the are travelling towards you are going against a fair amount of current. If they are not up on step, they have no control. They are doing the right thing, its the boat thats travelling away from you that cannot be seen by the boats coming up stream. Just a little perspective. I too have been hit going through this same section.
Looks to me like they're making more than enough headway. Seemed to have little difficulty turning to starboard at the VERY last minute. I have a 30 foot sailboat, and it's amazing what some folks in powerboats expect ME to be able to do to avoid THEM. That said, I've never been through this gap, so I'll have to take your word for it.
Learn the right of way boats have rules too. Learn them.

You do not come through an area like that on step, that is what idle speed is for.
If you are going to hit your prop then tilt your motor up while you drive through SLOWLY.
