SOOOO where was she those 5 years? What happened to her??? How the story supposed to finish??? Damn damn damn!!! THis movie probably would be such a great romantic comedy... if would be of course :(((
The wonder of movie making, from watching this you'd NEVER know that there were all those problems in making this movie. Ms Monroe looks and sounds so great but we all know how very different it really was.
That was interesting. The story was awful though, and Marilyn didn't seem to into the part. Great wigs. Nice her last movie was color and not a black and white, like the in Misfits.
this was a really good movie and it would have been amazing when it was finished. all the cast was great and Marilyn was incredibly beautiful, as always. R.I.P
wow such an amazing film you wouldnt really believe the drama and arguments that went into this. i laughed and hell i even had a tear in my eye when it suddenly stopped
she coulnt finish the movie because she was fired. its not because she died. i just watched a documentry video on this movie with the photographers . she was always calling in sick and never worked. the movie was 1 million over budget and was going nowhere. they fired her and was decided that lee remick will replace her.. But no matter what Marilyn is my idol, i love her soo much and i look upto her. <3
Rent the movie "Move Over Darling" for the reshoot of the movie starring Doris Day and James Garner. I personally think that the chemistry of Martin and Monroe was not that great. It's better with Day and Garner. Monroe was not believable as a sex symbol, and wife and mother at the same time. Though she is a good actress, the story just wouldn't have jibed with her image. Martin also not that strong in these scenes.
They should have had Dorothy Dandridge finish the movie with Dean. I am sure he would have liked her since she was attractive and had a fascinating figure. However, whites were so racist then that they would not even thought for a second to put her with Dean. Racism, a stupid idea, is what had prevented a lot of blacks from getting roles they could have shined in.
she was very much ahead of her time i think. i bet she could fit perfetly in to the celebrity life today, and would probably be better looked after as people were a bit more ruthless and cruel back in those days (from what i've been told anyway). R.I.P to a lovely lady.
awww that was lovely to watch. im a big MM fan when i was in my teens my bedroom wallswere full of only posters of her.And i made scrap books of her that i still got today 20 years later. R.I.P Norma Jean. xx
It is sad and disappointing that this film couldn't have been finished. She had set up the finishing of it before her death. I thought maybe when they said that it would be digitally finished that they would somehow insert her in final scenes or use doubles or something. Instead they just ended it. Maybe some things should be left to the memories and what might have been.....
Has anyone have confirmation that Marilyn's line "Here he is ... " - when Wally Cox/shoe salesman doesn't show until she says "Here he is ... " a second time.(3.55 onwards) - was an in-joke giving a nod to Marilyn's late arrival to the stage when introduced twice to sing Happy Birthday to JFK ("Here she is ... ") ? Having watched the documentaries and checked wiki, this portion of the movie would have been filmed the very same month, not long after her appearance at JFK's birthday on May 19th
Some comments below are wondering what happens after this unfinished edit. The film is almost scene for scene, sometimes word for word, a remake of the original My Favourite Wife with Cary Grant and Irene Dunne. I would guess that the following scenes would have continued to follow exactly on from the scene where Marilyn's character brings along the shoe-shop man. Interesting to compare the original character played by Irene Dunne with Marilyn's sexier take.
most beautiful women that ever lived<3 it's sad to know that women are becoming less and less innocently beautiful..willing to show more of their bodies and less of their hearts. marilyn could do it all!!
OMG WOW!!! Marilyn looked Great she still had it!!!! I love her so much!!! ( I think Plastic Surgery was unheard of to Society in those days
So considering Marilyn didn't get Botox she looked incredible for her age!!!
She was so sexy its a shame she died so suddenly i would have loved to have seen her later work it would have been Marvelous!!!! Her acting really was at its best!
The part of the film that was completed promised a fairly good comedy, probably better than the original it was remaking (with Randolph Scott, I think). MM's acting here is quite good, though her dolphin-like squeaks in the pool throw some suspicion on her mental state. The way the very small children were permitted to swim, initially, unsupervised and then use hammer and nails whilst precariously perched high above a hard tiled floor made me a little anxious. Thanks for this memento.
Im a new subscriber, so this is a first THANK YOU- For allowing this. It put's the darkness I often think of away and bring's Marilyn to light. She truly is amazing. I thank you a second time for all you do marilyntkm.
It looks like with today's technology some computer genius would be able to replicate the actors' and actresses' images and use the current footage to complete the movie. Probably be an immense amount of legal red tape with all the estates and such.... but wouldn't it be a great tribute. BTW the movie follows the other movies (My Favorite Wife w/ Cary Grant & Irene Dunne and Move Over, Darling w/ James Garner & Doris Day) scripts pretty closely if you want to see how they end.
Tom Tryon- YOWZA! What a guy to be stuck on an island with for 5 1/2 years! He had a short but exciting film career, and then walked away from it anf became a writer. He got this job because he was one of George Cukor's "stable" of male friends that attended George's exclusive and famous Sunday brunches, which consisted of George's gay and gay-friendly Hollywood friends. Those who stayed after the brunch for the swim party usually were the hunky male up-and-coming actors in Hollywood.

It Sure Would Have Been A Classic I Don't Think There Will Ever Be Another Actress Like Marilyn In All Of Her Movies Even Some Of Her Very Early Pictures Were She Only Had A Small Part She Always Lit Up The Screen I Love Her Movies My Favorite Are Some Like It Hot The Seven Year Itch And Gentlemen Prefer Blonde's
If This Had Been Completed It Might Have Been My All time Favorite Movie Such A Shame That Someone So Beautiful So Delicate Had To Be Taken So Early From A World That Adored Her
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Why did that dummy have to kill herself??? Didn't she know how many people were going to miss her? She was such a wonderful actress and this would have been a great movie. Much better than Move Over, Darling.
sad the movie was never finished it could've became one of the classic good ones. Such a real classic beauty with no needs for reflectors and enhancements unlike today. Rest in peace MM....
THey showed this on AMC a few times. Sad as Marilyn was excellent in this role.
Fox was supposedly going to rehire her. They were idiots to have fired her in the first place. Come on, this was Marilyn Monroe:) Marilyn did have a bad illness during filming so did take a few days off but the public loved her. There are things you have to put up with to get the best.
THe pool pics alone in Life magazine cover released by Fox should have covered Marilyn's wages.
thats it?!?! so not fair!! i want more!! the first part was really good. its a shame that they didnt finish it. i believe that people should have seen what a great actress she was and how much talent she to offer and didnt pass her off as some 'sex symbol'. she was such an amazing actress. she was so beautiful and had so much talent. its so so sad that she died so young. r.i.p. Norma Jeane
Thats it, thats it! What! I want more! It really sounds like it could have been an award winning movie,if they had that stuff in the 60's :p Oh, I wish Marilyn could have finshed this, she looked stunning in this picture! I even think that she looked more beautiful in this one than in most of her others, but thats just me. Its soo sad, I wish she didnt have to go so soon! I want more Marilyn!!!! :[
Que genial ver esta pelicula....que bien que actuaba M.M se habia convertido con el tiempo en una gran comediante era Marilyn...se la veia mucho mas delgada y hermosa que en sus ultimos filmes... una pena que no se haya terminado...
she is tired and nervous.. when she talkes with that nice soft voyce like she does in her roles beying seductive you know
here it sonds like she nervous like she acting but something that´s in the back of here head bothering and notibelsey on the end look slike she is confused with why did they cut it if she is half asleep like i was on my work last week hehe...it´s clear sign of her personal troubles
She was a method actress. When you get into a role, especially with a good actor, you can sometimes forget that you're in front of an audience or a camera.
I read in the paper a good while ago, that they were going to digitally fill in the missing pieces of this version. I think that it would be rather interesting, but it's still a shame that she didnt get to finish it!
i wish it was finish.......wayy better than gossip girl...or twilight

Why did that dummy have to kill herself??? Didn't she know how many people were going to miss her? She was such a wonderful actress and this would have been a great movie. Much better than Move Over, Darling.

she is tired and nervous.. when she talkes with that nice soft voyce like she does in her roles beying seductive you know
here it sonds like she nervous like she acting but something that´s in the back of here head bothering and notibelsey on the end look slike she is confused with why did they cut it if she is half asleep like i was on my work last week hehe...it´s clear sign of her personal troubles
