@Deamonic Well, they said it was because people would kill off an important companion in relation to their class. IE, a sith warrior tank may kill off their healing companion. And then people were complaining a lot in the beta and asking to get their companion back. I guess it happened so much, they decided it was better to remove that as part of the game, because it can ruin an entire character's remainder of the experience because it doesn't work well without that one companion class.

Yes, Jedi joined the Sith all the time. Given that most incarnations of the Sith began when a Jedi, or several Jedi, become Dark Lords of the Sith. However, the Sith Empire has existed for a very long time. In the beginning it was founded by Dark Jedi who conquered Sith natives, but now its been a seperate culture without the Jedi for 1400 years.  Unless the Jedi is something 'very' special, they don't want you. Most Sith shown so far in TOR are patriots out to exterminate the Jedi forever.

@crustykarma while I think Guild Wars has a proven multiplayer track record I think the questing and story of TOR is going to be particularly exciting. so if you have a strong preference of one over the other, that might help you decide. I think the RPG aspects of this game will knock everything else out of the park. that said, some people are VERY enthusiastic about Guild Wars so maybe someone else will speak up for it.

I think they should have gone further. I think you should have just chosen a species, and as the game progresses it will give you opportunities to become different classes, just to make it feel realistic. That would be cool. Or at least just make a "Jedi" class, or "Force sensitive" class, in which you evolve as your charachter and are able to choose which path you take whether it be jedi consular, jedi knight, sith inquisitor or sith warrior.

@ksdarkwolfv1 Interesting thought, and I think the advanced classes cover a lot of that depth. But, as you said, they could have "gone further." It does make sense that Knight and Consular could start as a single Jedi class, but I think Bioware made them different classes for story reasons. As for species, If everyone gets ganked by Wookiees for example, then people would pick species just for stats. (SWG ?) I bet Bioware could make it work. But I love what they're doing now. Just my opinion.
