@zodiark111 I think some kind of an evil spirit took over his body during the pregnancy - the whole premise of the story is, that the hospital has inherited a bad vibe, through overconfident doctors and standard medical arrogance. My guess is, that LvT wants to show, how a bad environment almost seeps into the bricks of the hospital itself, and reflects back on patients and staff. My favorite quote of the series is this: "Just because you're a doctor, it doesn't mean you can't get sick."
