My tooling engineer in Atlanta was say that a DS-10SSY would be great in the line up for small 3 operation work, he knows a few people that would buy a couple too a lot of haas fans in ga. I have 3 so far.
@FodenDesigns Unfortunately we don't have any plans for a DS-10. Since the DS series has two spindles the work-space on a DS-10 or DS-20 would be too small
We wont say "never" though. What type of work do you do? How would you use a DS-10YSS? Let us know, you might show us something and have us change our thinking on a DS-10 and 20.
@haasautomation We do thousands of small parts two examples-
1st part is 18mm long diameter 16mm its 4140 steel has threads radially around the part also requires high detial on the second side after its parted off so would be perfect for transfereing the work piece from a main to sub spinde.
2nd example is small brass 101.5mm long brass shaft these have flats milled and threads in both ends that need to be aligned so currently we turn side 1 ,turn side 2 then set up mill.
@densmoremachine No, but the machine already is pretty awesome. The ST-10 already has 1200 ipm rapids and a 6k RPM spindle, there is no room to go any faster. In addition, the ST-SS series come standard with a lager hybrid turret which wouldn't fit.
@ydna2 The ST-10 is available with live-tooling and the ST-10Y will be available with live tooling. In fact the entire lineup of ST lathes will be available with live tooling.
I hope to buy one this year. My guys have been asking for it for 6 months

Will you do video of st-10 using live tooling and Y axis?
jdensmore21 1 year ago
@jdensmore21 We are filming an ST-10Y today!
haasautomation 1 year ago
What kind of material is that?
KenFoulks 1 year ago
@KenFoulks The material is an alloy steel called 4140. With a Brinell hardness of approximately 285, 4140 provides good strength and wear resistance.
