The alarm for Indiana Jones was blood-curdling as hell, and yes, that was my favorite as too. But damn, that alarm will heat my cold reptilian blood to a boil until the day I die. The FUCK?
Terminator 2's was actually the most realistic. James Cameron received letters from scientists praising him on it as that is what would really happen. He says it scares him.
Hahaha that reminded me on nuketown on blackops but when surviving something like that at the end I would just keep running not go on top of a hill and stairing at a nuke
Ive always said its about time Houston was featured in a movie, but the I-45 freeway sign would been the Scott st or Spur 5 to get to U of H. Petty detail I know... :o
Someone needs to tell the people who made "The Crazies" that anyone who looks directly at an atomic blast with the naked eye usually goes blind from retinal burns...
One of the most realistic explosions was a British film done back in the 1980's called Threads. It was their version of The Day After but I always felt it more effectively depicted not only the brutality of the blast heat effects but the long term hopeless situation that would follow. The Indiana Jones scene is accurate in the nuke town effects but The Terminator movies always comes to mind when thinking about nuclear war.
Actually the nuke scene with Indiana Jones is vary possible, they just don't make refrigerators like that anymore haha! But the scenes from the terminators was pretty scary.
with it being lined with lead (a very strong material) and the quality in which they made those items in the 50's, i believe the fridge would have been fine.
but that landing would have cracked his head like an egg.
I can't help but notice that all the explosions in the movies made in the past decade have the same look and sound effects, and a lot of flying glass. The sound effects and truck getting hit by the blast wave in The Crazies are the same sound effects and blast wave hitting the car in Indian Jones.
It's as though there is only one CGI company that specializes in nuclear explosions. They're all too similar and getting boring.
@Mrsebring181 I'm referring to those characters in the movies here. Surely they must have known that staring into a nuke explosion would melt your cornea and blind you for hours but yet they still took the risk just for the fun of it.
@ArrowToTheAnkle i dont know. If it really happened im sure many would look to see what it is. We couldnt help it, a big explosion in a city will attract our attention. Its the worst thing to do but that wouldnt matter. we would look at it anyway. at least I would unles I was warned beforehand it was a nuclear weapon.
Ok, everybody DOES realize that if you can see the explosion or the mushroom cloud, you disintegrate whether you were in the blast radius or not? So pretty much everybody in these movies who survived would be dead.
Indiana Jones would have definitely died even if he was in the fridge and even if it had stayed in that kitchen. He definitely would not have survived being catapulted like that.
@hop208 true but indiana movies arent suppose to be realistic.... like seriously what kind of weapon sucks the life out of who run from it or what about looking at it.... I get what ur saying but after the stuff in the first 3 movies, u cant talk about realistic stuff anymore :P
lol Indiana jones! seriously... my vote was on Terminator 2 as it was more accurate, for you cant look at a Nuclear explosion for its the power of the sun and would melt your eyes, and its power of distruction was more scary
When I watched skyline/nuke scene I was like "Yeah you alien cocksuckers, that´s what you´re about to expect, death and tears. Git the fock off our planet"
Battle: LA will go down as one of my all time favorite alien/war movies. No futuristic weapons or crusading presidents, but US Marines doing what they do best. A vastly underrated movie.
The Crazies was sadly overlooked too. Dismissed as just another "zombie" movie, it deserved better.
The Crazies: Realistically, had she watched a nuclear explosion that close with her eyes wide open, she have been blinded immediately for life. It would have burned her retinas.
Good list for the most part. Not sure about the Indiana Jones blast or the Skyline one. My Favorite that did not make you list in the 1952 move Above and Beyond. It a biography about Paul Tibet, who drop the first atomic bomb on Japan.. The studio was turn down by the military when they asked for footage of the explosion. So they created their own. It look beter then the real footage and the Miltary then used the fake fottage in their training films in the 1950.s and 1960.s.
@agumon12 U hate it because we got exterminated by the aliens, and the Americans didn't saved the Earth like in every other movie (not only alien invasion ones). Cmon man we don't really know are there an aliens and if they mind to attack us we are gonna be unprepared. If they have a technology to travel billions of miles in no time, than they will got unimaginable fire power. U still think that America will save us from anything ???
@SandmanCOD "Real Military" and "Call of Duty Modern Warfare" should NEVER be in the same sentence. Now excuse me, I have to pluck out my eyes and kill myself after reading such a horrid idea.
@makemap 1 is that there are no survivors considering the shockwave goes further than the radiation. 2 I that radiation does not mutate it kills. Radiation is little particles that shoot thru your body extremely fast. (Extremly brief version of it)
That's why people desintagrated when they tried to get to close to trunoble
@bronzeemployer Lets say that the fridge protecs him from the radiation, what about the kilometer he flew? Just because the fridge hits the ground doesnt mean that he is not affected by the impact. The velocity that the fridge has upon impact is the same velocity that the person inside the fridge hits the fridge's interior.
