I love the intro. It's so understated, there is no action at all, but it effectively establishes the mystique of the main character. The brief sequence of his girlfriend talking into the recorder humanizes him, and finally the shot of him walking through the crowd with the theme music is just awesome. Hong Kong cinema tends to be cheesy, and this movie is no exception, but they are so good at putting you in the mood for cheese.

The aim of the game is to get as low a score as possible. Since there's 6 dice in the game so getting a 6 should've been the lowest but since Chow Yun Fat smashed one of the dice during the shaking, he got a 5 which is lower than 6 thus he wins

I love this film, and a few years ago I've seen another film that is also a Hong Kong movie, but it's a comedy that plays with God of Gamblers's story theme (a guy who has this supernatural gift which allows him to dominate several game's tecniques and because of that he goes through a lot of trouble).
