I wouldn't say it was Schumacher fault here -> Montoya left him the choice, either let me pass you or crash into me, and Schumacher wouldn't play that game. the track narrows when entering the corner, not much space schumacher could have used to avoid the crash. the penalty is ridicolous anyway, i'd say its a normal racing incident. reminds me alot of todays judging..
@66Morti66 yeah, a ridiculous penalty, none should have been given at all to anyone. As Schumacher's car veered suddenly into Montoya (who at the time was holding his steering in the one position with no sudden movements), I wouldn't apportion blame to the Columbian. However, although it looks like Schumacher suddenly veered into him, I have seen the incident from on-board the Ferrari, and Schumacher's didnt correct or anything. Its strange
@66Morti66 Yes, exactly. You'd think they would learn to say "well, it's both of their fault, really. So either punish both, or better just leave them alone and let it ride" they always seem to have to blame one of the people involved, not equality of blame (which is usually the most accurate way of describing a racing incident such as this) but singular blame.
Crazy penalties like that simply make strolngly evident the clear purpose to stop Montoya who was clearly showing to be very much better that Schumacher.
" help plz when i try to install microsoft direct x 9.0 it says 'A cabinet file necessary for installation cannot be trusted. Please verify the cryptographic services are enabled and the cabinet file is valid' can someone plz tell me what to do thx
As usual schumacher doing crazy things and as usual penalties for opponents.
So shameful. Incredible that there is still some funny mainstream boy who still doesn't know about rules and about the dirty game against Montoya by cheaters supported by cheaters. Anyway eventually It's simply funny to see such elements saying no sense things.
In this crazy attempt to close the way to Montoya funny schumy as usual completely lost his car but ,no problem, he knew he had FIA in his pocket

You need to understand people that the driver who has the inside of a turn has all the right to go!
Schumaher KEPT the inside which meant less time on the turn but less exit speed! Montoya had the outside. He should have given more space to Schumi and exit with more speed than him! He would have passed him since he was a bit ahead! But he gave no room to the inside car which has no room to move. Either out of course or on Montoya! Montoya is at fault here! Learn the rules people!
Schumi was on the inside of the turn! That means he could not go right because that means off the course. So he only had the option of keeping his line and go along with the turn. Montoya now did not give him space which meant that at some point the cars would meet! FIA gives priority to the inside car because the inside car has no option but to keep its line! Montoya had the option to give some more space and because he didnt the cars hit. Thats why FIA gave the penalty!
@LinkSoul2 To many words, too many words. MS no only missjudge his braking point,he drove-ram into JPM. No happy with that, the FIA "FIDDLErrari inter aid" give a penalty, a totally unfear one to JPM, (the fair world of f1). JPM`s,super race craft own him a second place after all that bullshit, Now have we seen that before?,i don`t think so. Finally, JPM was obviously right, and the right winner. The truth prevails MONTOYEAH
Do you know what you say? You're acting like you know everything, when I can see you don't know Formula 1 rules. Look at the video, Schumacher had gone straight into Montoya. You can also see that J.P. gave him ENOUGH space driving through the outside. If I was the judge, I'd say it was a "Racing Incident", but this video is a proof that it's Michael's fault. Still not believing? After the race Schumi even admitted it was his fault!
@LinkSoul2 From wiki: Michael Schumacher later commented that he though it was "overly harsh" on Montoya for the incident, while Montoya himself commented that it was "very unfair" and that he "gave Michael room" and commented that Schumacher "understeered and touched him" before adding that "it was a racing incident"
@LinkSoul2 He has the inside line but somehow went wide into Montoya. Montoya got penalized for Schumi's mistake. Just because someone has the inside line doesn't mean you give them all the room they want. You still gotta make it hard for the. He CLEARLY went wide into Montoya.
@LinkSoul2 Erm...?? "you need to understand" puaf!! ..."more space"..?? how much more space JPM should have given...?? ha! "understand" ??...How ironic.
i know the punishment for JP Montoya was not right... you don't have to tell this to me ;)
but if you stop there... you can see he didnt gave him the room "to live".
The incident was after that situation, caused by JP because he pushed Michael on the curb where he lost grip...
In my opinion not a fault of Schumi... but hard driving of JP. I think the move wasn't correct from him... but the punishment of FIA is just hilarious xD and also not fair
Well clearly Michael has understeer and doesn' t even try to evade montoya... Schumacher thinks he is bloody Senna which he is not, and through his carreer he has failed to produce anything heroic (bar hungary 1998)
I,m a huge Schumacher-fan but Michael is the one who should be penalised. He drove Montoya very wide.It looks like Michael had a lot of understeer because he braked too late in my view. That,s why it is Michaels fault.
oh yeah, the era where the Fucking International Assistance hates seeing a Ferrari get threatened by any other car...bunch of mutts. JPM did 0 wrong, and got one of the most ridiculous drive thrus in history...while the "fucking idiot" Schumacher shows again he doesnt know how to race....
The FIA stands for Ferrari International Assistance as they never penalise them! And Schumacher was only good because he had the best car! Apart from that he was a cheating fucking crout! Fuck Michael Schumacher and fuck Ferrari and also fuck Germany!
Not getting away from the subjet, anyone who applauds cheating has no integrity and deep inside don't care. That's why how MS won much of the championships. Anyone as good as he's can win in a UNFAIRLY way as MS did, anyone who 'thinks' the contrary is as participed-accomplice as MS-FIA was and still is. A real shame.
To compared an exceptional racing driver like Ayrton Da Silva Senna with a notorious cheater like MSchumacher, is no only playing follish but to also show very little respect and zero integrity. He added: 'hey shit happens' oh really lets look a MS now, an average driver who ironicly is running out of numbers. Watch out this users 'temper is gonna rise' yeah right we're so afraid to speak the truth. So much for bravery on the net from SuperVindvalker, more like SuperImbecile.
only a fool would say that montoya is better than schumi and yes YOU ARE A RELENTLESS LOOSER AND A FOOL...i pity you...taht's all i can say now, you are a noob who doesn't know squab about F1 and just sit here writing STUPID comments, go on blabbering all you want doesn't change the FACTS
Schumacher has won 91 races in his career and 7 championship titles with 175 podiums..SUCKER
@SuperVindvalker Ah! i touch a nerve!. Oh well no need for me to inflict more pain as a couple of users had told you that you are wrong and them too don't want to go anyfuther with you-Superwanker.
well i guess when you dont have facts all you can do is talk jibberish and you really need to improve your english...what are you??? colombian?? a JPM supporter who can not even speak proper english...you must be really uneducated just like your mentor MONTOYA TOYA TOYA MONI TOYA...TOXICTOYA
@SuperVindvalker Ah! Superwanker, i guess a high level of education encourage yourself to insult me as you as you did and Since my enlgish doesn't meet you standars and education, perhaps you can reply in Castellano.
i am not english, but i do not write nonsense, you on the other hand, let's just say you SUCK in every way possible, TOXICTOYEEE just like your fav player MONTOYA
you are a sensible person, i agree with you there, but this idiot TOXICTRACE is saying that Montoya is as good as senna, and since i am a huge fan of senna and Schumi , that's an insult...no offence to you
@SuperVindvalker He IS an idiot. He's been saying shit like this for 3 years straight and has nothing to do but suck Montoya's cock. What a no-life cunt.
the FIA rule says " Penalize everybody that is cause of any incident. Make them think twice before they do something foolish. Increase the amount of CLEAN racing." and clearly if you see closely Michael only made one move to defend his position that is at the very start by coming into the corner to get the inside and then he followed his own track.....montoya did not give him another option...why would Michael give away his position when he is following his own line????
nonsense....it wasn't schumachars fault....montoya was on wrong side....you should really know the rules before driving f1....Schumachar is the best there is
Montoya was on the outside, he gave M Schumacher enough space to fit into a corner. However, Schumi collided with Juan Pablo, as a result losing front wing. I can say it was a racing incident, though you can clearly see that Schumacher hit Montoya.
he had no choice there...it was not intentional...if you see closely schumi had already taken the turn and then montoya came in from behind...such incidents have happened many times but i feel that Schumacher is blamed more often just because he is the champ......this was not schumachar's fault here
i dunno if montoya should have been given a drive through or not...i am just saying that it was not michale's fault butt J.Ps i'll give you one more example of sad and pathetic driving by montoya...the safety car is out and there is not overtaking allowed....Schumi is 1st , montoya 3rd and montoya goes straight from 3rd to hit schumi..monaco 2004
That accident was actually controversial, however I am not talking about incidents that happened later. How accident that is seen in the video is Montoya's fault? Explain?
the FIA rule says " Penalize everybody that is cause of any incident. Make them think twice before they do something foolish. Increase the amount of CLEAN racing." and clearly if you see closely Michael only made one move to defend his position that is at the very start by coming into the corner to get the inside and then he followed his own track.....montoya did not give him another option...why would Michael give away his position when he is following his own line????
i respectfully disagree....i too remember the race clearly and i was 10 back then and it was shown several times during the race and concluded that it was Montoya's Fault and some might disagree but the stewards seem to think the same
I disagree...don't go about believing the description...Michael had no choice.. it all happened in split second time and once he had already taken the turn towards left then there was no way in hell he could have stopped it and Montoya did not give him enough space and he Did not overake him as well....so what was Michael supposed to do?
Um, he was ahead because it was a turn and he pushed the breaks late and all of a sudden mid way to overtaking he brakes ...now whatt was Michael supposed to do? go out of track? or brake hard?...he did what a smart man does....and stewards seem to agree with that...so do i...you guys are just Michaels haters so kepp finding a reason...but he is the best of best
...do you think Montoya can go through the corner without hitting brakes? Are you kidding me? Also, if you think Montoya was much worse than Schumi, why he almost won the championship in 2003? He was on his away to win it. However, he had a lot of bad luck. First, the collision with Barrichello (Indianapolis), than Car Failure...(Suzuka)
Dude, what you write is just not right. Schumacher even admitted that he made a mistake there. Stop telling us it was Montoya's fault. And also, I'd understand why Schumi was kind of weak in 2010, but not in this season, he's just a kind of medium-driver right now (Except for rain)
well whatever the case is... Schumacher is the best EVER...and if some noob says that Montoya is the best EVER after SENNA....my temper is gonna rise....this was a race incident and caused by Montoya, so he was given the drive through, it would have been better if he was not given the penalty, but hey shit happens, how does that make Montoya better than Schumacher???
@FlareonEevee1 Indeed he was and JPM shouldn't have had that penalty. Futhermore MS admited after the race that it was his mystake, but that was well too late if you ask me, he knows very well this is a sport in where a tenth of a second counts. Now that rise aquestion as to why the penalty?. JPM finished 2nd after all that bullshit without the penalty JPM was legitimate the winner. So as JPM said: .'Fucking Idiots they Are=FIA. Totally agree.
How a real racing driver can come close to win a championship in 03 knowing the obstacles he face since day one eg: Brazil 01,not being treated fairly inside his team, some "people" called at JPM names, everytime he give to MS a run for his money,accused- blame for not wrong doing (see above) by the UNSPORTING FIA,don't forget FIDDLErrari mockery in Austria THE SAME YEAR. Knowing such of shame, i'd say that what JPM did in his short stay F1, was more than remarkable. For me the best after Senna!.
@SuperVindvalker Perhaps none(just to mention a few) none of it ever happened...and you called at me sad...erm??. Oh well, knowing we should put integrity above all, which clearly is my-CHOICE,and rightly so but evidently for you it isnt,,i'll be 'sad' then. PS Don't call me friend.
i called your choice sad...when JPM wins 7 titles and 13 wins in a season...lemme know!
OH WAIT!!! that's never gonna happen....so Mr.Toxic or whatever you are...just don't give the lame excuse that Michael had the faster car...Michael has won his previous championships NOT in ferrari but in Bnneton Ford...so jsut do not say that Michael is not the best...and ya Montoya is nowhere in the league of best drivers...it's always been Senna and Schumacher a class apart form everyone else
@SuperVindvalker Erm what 7 titles and 13 wins in a seanson?,in a seanson?. Wow, it goes to show how hasty-desperate you're to make a comment like that. Humm, all to prise your beloved BUFFONE. Yes that's what MS was called at Monaco 06. Now i don't think no one, nobody was ever call that in F1.So for you to compared an sportman like Ayrton Da silva Senna 'the exceptional' with MS a bloody cheater is simply an abysmal, but then again what you know about integrity. Bye,bye.
keep making rubbish comments...and yes Michael has won 7 championship titles and yes he has won 13 races in a SINGLE season...he is better than montoya and yes he is as good as Senna...i think MSC is better but i just have the respect for Senna for giving him the first spot...MSC is not a pussy and is aggresive now you pussies think that its cheating...hey...that's your call...BA BYE
As usual schumacher doing crazy things and as usual FIA protecting him .
The episode is one of the most clear exaples of the dirty game played by the establishment against Montoya ,a boycotting that costed to Montoya many points and the championschip in 2003,a boycotting that costed millions of euros to Montoya ,Williams and BMW.
And the shameful dirty game isn't terminated, not at all, because F1 management has erased ,and nowadays continues to erase ,akward videos about this subject.
Montoya and Hill, two of the most biggest losers in F1 ever, they drove both for that shit team williams, and tought both that they can defeat SCHUMI, but ofcourse they can not!!! they are both frustrated assholes and SCHUMI is il campione del mondo!!!
@ScuderiaGiancarlo i am sure that you know nothing about f1 and if you watched the years of Montoya you should have realised that nobody could beat schumacher because of the combination FIA-Judges-Sauber-Barrichello who all gave advantage to ferrari and schumacher. An example is the situation in this video where FIA shows how disgusting f1 was because of their stupid decisions. BMW and Montoya deserved more than what they got but that is F1, a good sport beeing destroyed by f*cking idiots.
@tsumalis96 Hhahah, so, to start , i'me compleet shure i know so much more about F1 than you, man, it says enough, be treu to your self, you like montoya, so it's impossible that you have very much interest and know how of F1.
If you have watch F1 in that ara with open eyes, you must have seen that Ferrari/Schumi far away the best and fastest in the field where, so what that the FIA helps us sometimes a bit, do you really think they wanna help a brainless williams driver, ofcourse they do not!
@ScuderiaGiancarlo How could williams and montoya develop if FIA always helped ferrari? There are several examples where fia clearly supports ferrari and this was critical in 2003, when Montoya would be the champion (abd williams) if FIA didn't play their dirty games against them. This fact costed a lot of money to williams and it was obvious that ferrari would be able to make a better car, but williams, despite these dirty games, was always there and able to fight ferrari, until fia stops them.
@tsumalis96 If we go back to 2003, our biggest rivals beeing Mclaren-Mercedes and Kimi Raikonen, due tu again a stupid action from Montoya he was allready at Indianapolis no longer a championchip rival, some times williams and jpm where faster in quilifing than us that year, but a race weekend is not only a qualifing session, so at the end of the story, Michael and Ferrari being the most consistant and stable factor, Michael did that year everyting right when it should go right, >>>
@ScuderiaGiancarlo In fact, JPM lost 20 points because of 2 retirements at Austria and Japan, where he clearly dominated but the luck was not on his side. I have to say that MSC is a good driver, consistent and concentrated on races but, in my view, he is not as fast as some other drivers (e.g. Montoya, Alonso, Raikonnen etc.)
@tsumalis96 In Japan 03' he was allready out of running for the championchip.......Maybe MS was in that time not always the fastest, but wath have jpm and kr achieved with beeing the fastest in practice and QU??nothing, at the end Michael was the champion, as we go back to last year, i clearly say, i dont like Vettel at all, but he was in Qu. very often the fastest, at the end Alonso takes almost (unfortunetaly not ) the title with beeing not the fastest.......so fastest is not always the best..
@ScuderiaGiancarlo That's true, but i am not talking only about quali or practice. Montoya was a fighter and he was fast also in race (in 2003, mainly after Monaco GP). His car had good pace and he was able to beat schumacher at some times, and at a point he and williams bmw were first in the drivers and constructors championship. Everything was lost in austria, where he was running first but retired. From then, he didn't have any chance of taking the championship. As for 2010, i totally aggree.
@tsumalis96 Yes he was in 2003 sometimes very fast, and in a few races abble to catch us, but overal (not only 2003) jpm made so many stupid and unnecessary mistakes, that he never would have been worldchampion.
The problem of jpm was that he tottaly not there was when he must do it, when he had a race where he was the whole weekend the fastest he win sometimes easy the race, but such things happens maybe 2 most 3 times a year, but only on that way you will not becomming the championchip.
@tsumalis96 even when other brainless stupid drivers him collides at the Nürburgring!!!!!
So the only REAL rival that year was KR with Mclaren, jpm and williams dit only a job to give it sometimes just a bit more tencion, but never more than that my friend.........
@MrIrishlogic I respect your opinion, but compare this with the incident in '94 between Schumcaher and Hill. Schumacher did the same thing as Montoya did and got away scotfree. He did the same thing to Villeneuve in '97 (and that was an intentional hit). As the stewards decided not to take any action against schumacher in both cases, the drive through penalty of montoya was an abuse. Just compare them and see what's what.
@brav0wing Well said. But i'm afraid this user's lack of common sense or logic as he calls himself is astonishing, such is the irony. Don't waste your time with MrIrish'logic', but please do stay around !.
@MrIrishlogic The rules clearly states that whoever has the car upfront has the advantage. Montoya had the advantage for being almost half a car infront, ...Schumacher hit him.
@MrIrishlogic yea but but senna did it for revenge and blatantly so and is a fucking legend for doing so, schume is petty and does it when he knows he gunna get done
Ramming somebody off the track at high speed for revenge is not any better than any other intentionally caused collision. I am getting tired of everyone justifying Senna's bad actions by the fact that "he is a legend". I believe that he was a great driver, one of the greatest ever. But people really gotta stop having double standards here calling Schumi a cheater for everything he did and praising Senna for doing something very similar.
@MrIrishlogic Ahhh, textbook defence ? Do you call textbook defence losing the car ,blocked wheels ,and going with a lose car to impact the opponent that is ahead ....and all that ....destroing your car .....?
Well, ...sorry but about your " comments" I'm more and more astonished.....
I don't know what to say....
I simply can repeat what I said ...., please , continue to watch F1 and I'm sure in the future you'll understand how things works .
I personal think montoya could have gave more room he would have got him at turn 2 anyway. Though i am a schumi fan so its a bit biased being honest it was just a racing incident they happen.
@mgarofano My friend it's funny how this particular user can actually reflet that life can be an irony. It goes to show that "logic" it's precisely what he lacks of. Now that's TWICE the irony eh!
@TOXICTRACE My friend it's realy so incredible how difficult appears sometime to watch the evidence. I obviously totally agree , surely a total lack of logic.
Totally agree. As even a beginner of F1 would understand the boycotting of Montoya in this episode is terrific . I suppose that even someone ex Ferrari person today would admit that what happened was realy shameful .In fact Barrichello to have new contract in F1 said that he was ready to public a book ....and he had new contract .
@mgarofano Him publish a book !!!! one of the more clever moves he/management made, eh?. I can just see a bunch of humans in disguise draging their tails in a rapid movement, grabbing that book with their jaws and days later a contract appears with a pungent stench; a "new contract" whose origin is obvious.
Montoya was in front, schumacher had to give way. BUT NO,... THE FUCKER DID THE SAME THING HE DID TO HILL AND VILLENEUVE and almost did to Barichello in 2010.
@JukaPoke So that people like v12ferrari and Morthelion continue to live in denial and brainwashed by Schumaker propaganda.Fortunately some like us, can see beyond what the eyes can see!!.
I'm a fan of Schumacher - and for all he has done for the safety and the excitement of Formula 1... but even I have to admit that was disgusting. Shades of the Villeneuve incident at Jerez in '97. A great driver, but a dirty bastard at the same time! LOL
@gttc321 there's nothing "clear" about it being Montoya's fault at all. JPM got to the corner first, MS was unwilling to yield and didn't brake in time. I'm not saying either of them are saints because they both have bad reputations with this sort of thing, but as a neutral I would suggest MS's ego wouldn't accept he was the second-fastest car on that occasion. My opinion only, of course.
@gttc321 How is clearly Montoya's fault when he was in front of Schumacher by half a car. Rules dictate that when a car is in front, the car that is being passed has to give way in order to avoid a collision. But, as "disengagejam" said, at that time FIA was also known as Ferrari International Assistance.
And the shameful dirty game isn't terminated, not at all, because F1 management has erased and nowadays continues to erase akward videos about this subject.
JP turns in too early. Michael gets on the gras and looses grip...that's all. Monty's fault in my opinion...more space for Schumi -> no incident... and JP would still have been in a better position for the next turn...
michael understeered into the sidepod of montoya's car bloody F.I.A always favour ferrari because they threaten to quit if they don't get there own way
Guys guys .... dont discuss something, if you dont know the heck your talking about ...
First you need to drive some motorsport to figure everything out....and not just looking it on TV ... montoya didnt deserve a penalty (maybe), but this wasnt either a Shumachers fault -.- ' ... Montoya wasnt ahead of Michael for like whole car, only for a 20 cm's and simply didnt left Michael a place to go ...
@Katic13 Erm..."didn't let Michael a place to go..." ??.Come on,what MS did was to ram over JPM's car, that's simply what MS did, as his notorious in doing that.MS knew he lose position as JPM has gain the chicane, better grip clear exit-air and way you go!.Hey there's an eg: JPM v Button, difference was Button cut JPM's rhythm NOT this, and still Button got passed. In conclusion to give a penalty to JPM for such thing, was not only unsporting,it really was bullshit,so more clear can it be.
@TOXICTRACE Totally agreed. A so big shameful dirty game against Montoya. It started at once when Montoya after only three races in F1 showed to be much more better than Schumacher Brazil 2001.
It's very easy to win when opponents get shameful penalties, when you have Barrichello working for you and when you have another full team (sauber-blu ferrari) working for you .Montoya had all that " against" and also the useless Ralf always disturbing. And with all that he was pratically WC in 2003
Tbh if I was Montoya I'd have given race control the finger as I drove past when doing the penalty.
Absolute joke of a decision - no one should have got a penalty for that it was simply a racing incident but if anyone had to them surely it should have been schumi.
I hope will come a day when more and more mainstream persons 'll understand clearly that Schumacher without the " assistence " would have had probably 2-3 titles ,no more. This make him a very good driver , nothing less, nothing more. Drivers like Montoya , Alonso and Hamilton would win surely much more with the same " assistence" because they are clearly much more natural talented drivers than Schumacher. As well as Hamilton and Alonso nowaday would win more than Vettel with a Red Bull .
You can just catch a guy saying at the start of the team radio.."Does he know about drive through....
He got fucked over many times by the Ferrari International Asssistance and he had quite alot of drive through's, and this is why Montoya went to NASCAR. But then he got fucked over AGAIN, by NASCAR at the Brickyard 400 last year, when he got a drive through penalty, for speeding in the pitlane, when of course he wasn't! They gave him it becuase Jimmie Johnson was second, and NASCAR bum of him
Every at least no blind person from this episode can easily understand the dirty game that has been played against Montoya.
The shameful swindle started at once when it was clear that Montoya was far better than Schumacher. Crazy and shameful penalties by judges , Barrichello and the two Ferrari -Sauber always working for Schumacher by contract and more ,Montoya had also the useless Ralf always disturbing .And with all that in 2003 Montoya was pratically world champion. True racer .
there's a reason why schumacher won 7 titles and 97 races and montoya on the other hand has an indy 500 win (big whoooop) and is now racing in nascar...
FIA favouring Schumacher unfairly. I suppose you can argue that Schumacher had position but off the line like that, it's a very ropey argument. Montoya had Schumacher into the corner and Schumacher was just stubborn and that's what happened.
We saw Schumacher do a similar thing a few races ago, he just drives into people when it suits him and then claim that it was their fault.
@djadudeguy FIA favouring Schumacher? WHAT? When did this happen? When he got hundreds of penalties during his career and even being disqualified from the championship in 1997? And are you listening to yourself, commenting and judging the lines and stubbornness of Schumacher? What did you expect him to do, to move over, politely asking Montoya to pass him for the lead? This is motor sport! We want racing, wheel to wheel, and sometimes wing to wing, and this kind of stuff happens!
@masklin3 You're right. I love F1 and I do love close racing, but there's no racing when Schumacher drives into the side of somebody when he should have realised that he's not got the space to maintain position.
@djadudeguy then we just see racing different:). but the thing is you cannot only blame Schumacher for the accident. Montoya had his share as well, he had the whole track to go wide and avoid him. But they both took a chance and this happened. This is how I thing racing should be. For instance, think of China this year.Hamilton did a similar pass on Button, the difference being that Button, unlike Montoya, backed off. That's no fun.
Is it me or did montoya drive the better race line here?

You need to understand people that the driver who has the inside of a turn has all the right to go!
Schumaher KEPT the inside which meant less time on the turn but less exit speed! Montoya had the outside. He should have given more space to Schumi and exit with more speed than him! He would have passed him since he was a bit ahead! But he gave no room to the inside car which has no room to move. Either out of course or on Montoya! Montoya is at fault here! Learn the rules people!

@TOXICTRACE
LinkSoul2 4 months ago

@LinkSoul2 From wiki: Michael Schumacher later commented that he though it was "overly harsh" on Montoya for the incident, while Montoya himself commented that it was "very unfair" and that he "gave Michael room" and commented that Schumacher "understeered and touched him" before adding that "it was a racing incident"
xcruzrr6 3 months ago
@LinkSoul2 He has the inside line but somehow went wide into Montoya. Montoya got penalized for Schumi's mistake. Just because someone has the inside line doesn't mean you give them all the room they want. You still gotta make it hard for the. He CLEARLY went wide into Montoya.

i know the punishment for JP Montoya was not right... you don't have to tell this to me ;)
but if you stop there... you can see he didnt gave him the room "to live".
The incident was after that situation, caused by JP because he pushed Michael on the curb where he lost grip...
In my opinion not a fault of Schumi... but hard driving of JP. I think the move wasn't correct from him... but the punishment of FIA is just hilarious xD and also not fair

Montoya was on the outside, he gave M Schumacher enough space to fit into a corner. However, Schumi collided with Juan Pablo, as a result losing front wing. I can say it was a racing incident, though you can clearly see that Schumacher hit Montoya.
FlareonEevee1 5 months ago 2
@FlareonEevee1
he had no choice there...it was not intentional...if you see closely schumi had already taken the turn and then montoya came in from behind...such incidents have happened many times but i feel that Schumacher is blamed more often just because he is the champ......this was not schumachar's fault here

FlareonEevee1 5 months ago

I disagree...don't go about believing the description...Michael had no choice.. it all happened in split second time and once he had already taken the turn towards left then there was no way in hell he could have stopped it and Montoya did not give him enough space and he Did not overake him as well....so what was Michael supposed to do?
SuperVindvalker 5 months ago

@ScuderiaGiancarlo i am sure that you know nothing about f1 and if you watched the years of Montoya you should have realised that nobody could beat schumacher because of the combination FIA-Judges-Sauber-Barrichello who all gave advantage to ferrari and schumacher. An example is the situation in this video where FIA shows how disgusting f1 was because of their stupid decisions. BMW and Montoya deserved more than what they got but that is F1, a good sport beeing destroyed by f*cking idiots.
tsumalis96 6 months ago 2
@tsumalis96 Hhahah, so, to start , i'me compleet shure i know so much more about F1 than you, man, it says enough, be treu to your self, you like montoya, so it's impossible that you have very much interest and know how of F1.
If you have watch F1 in that ara with open eyes, you must have seen that Ferrari/Schumi far away the best and fastest in the field where, so what that the FIA helps us sometimes a bit, do you really think they wanna help a brainless williams driver, ofcourse they do not!
ScuderiaGiancarlo 6 months ago
@ScuderiaGiancarlo How could williams and montoya develop if FIA always helped ferrari? There are several examples where fia clearly supports ferrari and this was critical in 2003, when Montoya would be the champion (abd williams) if FIA didn't play their dirty games against them. This fact costed a lot of money to williams and it was obvious that ferrari would be able to make a better car, but williams, despite these dirty games, was always there and able to fight ferrari, until fia stops them.
tsumalis96 6 months ago
@tsumalis96 If we go back to 2003, our biggest rivals beeing Mclaren-Mercedes and Kimi Raikonen, due tu again a stupid action from Montoya he was allready at Indianapolis no longer a championchip rival, some times williams and jpm where faster in quilifing than us that year, but a race weekend is not only a qualifing session, so at the end of the story, Michael and Ferrari being the most consistant and stable factor, Michael did that year everyting right when it should go right, >>>
ScuderiaGiancarlo 6 months ago
@ScuderiaGiancarlo In fact, JPM lost 20 points because of 2 retirements at Austria and Japan, where he clearly dominated but the luck was not on his side. I have to say that MSC is a good driver, consistent and concentrated on races but, in my view, he is not as fast as some other drivers (e.g. Montoya, Alonso, Raikonnen etc.)
tsumalis96 6 months ago
@tsumalis96 In Japan 03' he was allready out of running for the championchip.......Maybe MS was in that time not always the fastest, but wath have jpm and kr achieved with beeing the fastest in practice and QU??nothing, at the end Michael was the champion, as we go back to last year, i clearly say, i dont like Vettel at all, but he was in Qu. very often the fastest, at the end Alonso takes almost (unfortunetaly not ) the title with beeing not the fastest.......so fastest is not always the best..
ScuderiaGiancarlo 6 months ago
@ScuderiaGiancarlo That's true, but i am not talking only about quali or practice. Montoya was a fighter and he was fast also in race (in 2003, mainly after Monaco GP). His car had good pace and he was able to beat schumacher at some times, and at a point he and williams bmw were first in the drivers and constructors championship. Everything was lost in austria, where he was running first but retired. From then, he didn't have any chance of taking the championship. As for 2010, i totally aggree.
tsumalis96 6 months ago
@tsumalis96 Yes he was in 2003 sometimes very fast, and in a few races abble to catch us, but overal (not only 2003) jpm made so many stupid and unnecessary mistakes, that he never would have been worldchampion.
The problem of jpm was that he tottaly not there was when he must do it, when he had a race where he was the whole weekend the fastest he win sometimes easy the race, but such things happens maybe 2 most 3 times a year, but only on that way you will not becomming the championchip.
ScuderiaGiancarlo 6 months ago

Ramming somebody off the track at high speed for revenge is not any better than any other intentionally caused collision. But people really gotta stop having double standards here calling Schumi a cheater for everything he did and praising Senna for doing something very similar.

Montoya was in front, schumacher had to give way. BUT NO,... THE FUCKER DID THE SAME THING HE DID TO HILL AND VILLENEUVE and almost did to Barichello in 2010.
brav0wing 6 months ago 3
that's not knocking senna either, fastest driver in history.
gotta call a spade a spade though, the 90's - 00's were the decades where the gentleman aspect of f1 went out the window
iRapedNathanBurns 6 months ago
gotta love the schumacher bashers
howcome none of you mention the amount of times senna ran people off the track?
or the bad reputation senna had in 1993 as a sore loser and a dangerous driver, especially after the irvine-suzuka incident?
let the anti-german wagon roll on

I love how on Michael's wikipedia page it describes him as a spokesman for driver SAFETY. How'd he get that job?
JukaPoke 7 months ago
@JukaPoke So that people like v12ferrari and Morthelion continue to live in denial and brainwashed by Schumaker propaganda.Fortunately some like us, can see beyond what the eyes can see!!.
TOXICTRACE 7 months ago
I'm a fan of Schumacher - and for all he has done for the safety and the excitement of Formula 1... but even I have to admit that was disgusting. Shades of the Villeneuve incident at Jerez in '97. A great driver, but a dirty bastard at the same time! LOL

clearly montoya`s fault
gttc321 7 months ago
@gttc321 there's nothing "clear" about it being Montoya's fault at all. JPM got to the corner first, MS was unwilling to yield and didn't brake in time. I'm not saying either of them are saints because they both have bad reputations with this sort of thing, but as a neutral I would suggest MS's ego wouldn't accept he was the second-fastest car on that occasion. My opinion only, of course.
LordHeath1972 7 months ago
@gttc321 How is clearly Montoya's fault when he was in front of Schumacher by half a car. Rules dictate that when a car is in front, the car that is being passed has to give way in order to avoid a collision. But, as "disengagejam" said, at that time FIA was also known as Ferrari International Assistance.

Schumi clearly comes across montoya.

And the shameful dirty game isn't terminated, not at all, because F1 management has erased and nowadays continues to erase akward videos about this subject.

Montyoya´s fault
TheV12ferrari 7 months ago
JP turns in too early. Michael gets on the gras and looses grip...that's all. Monty's fault in my opinion...more space for Schumi -> no incident... and JP would still have been in a better position for the next turn...
Morthelion 7 months ago
this happened because in those days Ferrari had an agreement with FIA. This is completely stupid.

Katic13 7 months ago
@Katic13 Erm..."didn't let Michael a place to go..." ??.Come on,what MS did was to ram over JPM's car, that's simply what MS did, as his notorious in doing that.MS knew he lose position as JPM has gain the chicane, better grip clear exit-air and way you go!.Hey there's an eg: JPM v Button, difference was Button cut JPM's rhythm NOT this, and still Button got passed. In conclusion to give a penalty to JPM for such thing, was not only unsporting,it really was bullshit,so more clear can it be.
TOXICTRACE 7 months ago
@TOXICTRACE Totally agreed. A so big shameful dirty game against Montoya. It started at once when Montoya after only three races in F1 showed to be much more better than Schumacher Brazil 2001.
It's very easy to win when opponents get shameful penalties, when you have Barrichello working for you and when you have another full team (sauber-blu ferrari) working for you .Montoya had all that " against" and also the useless Ralf always disturbing. And with all that he was pratically WC in 2003
mgarofano 7 months ago
You got a drive through!....WHY??
hampti007 7 months ago
how did he got the penalty you can see jpm car bounce of michaels like he had to hit jpm
UD1G 7 months ago
Tbh if I was Montoya I'd have given race control the finger as I drove past when doing the penalty.
Absolute joke of a decision - no one should have got a penalty for that it was simply a racing incident but if anyone had to them surely it should have been schumi.
Drenwickification 7 months ago
lol for sure he should not get penalty for that. Maybee schumacher but not montoya.
darthghost23 7 months ago
THis is more evidence about how FIA and Williams sabotaged Montoya´s career in F1 since he dared to fight Schumager for the championship.

lelone22 7 months ago
I hope will come a day when more and more mainstream persons 'll understand clearly that Schumacher without the " assistence " would have had probably 2-3 titles ,no more. This make him a very good driver , nothing less, nothing more. Drivers like Montoya , Alonso and Hamilton would win surely much more with the same " assistence" because they are clearly much more natural talented drivers than Schumacher. As well as Hamilton and Alonso nowaday would win more than Vettel with a Red Bull .
mgarofano 7 months ago 2

True racer .
mgarofano 8 months ago
there's a reason why schumacher won 7 titles and 97 races and montoya on the other hand has an indy 500 win (big whoooop) and is now racing in nascar...
fluffynoses 8 months ago
FIA favouring Schumacher unfairly. I suppose you can argue that Schumacher had position but off the line like that, it's a very ropey argument. Montoya had Schumacher into the corner and Schumacher was just stubborn and that's what happened.
We saw Schumacher do a similar thing a few races ago, he just drives into people when it suits him and then claim that it was their fault.
djadudeguy 8 months ago
@djadudeguy FIA favouring Schumacher? WHAT? When did this happen? When he got hundreds of penalties during his career and even being disqualified from the championship in 1997? And are you listening to yourself, commenting and judging the lines and stubbornness of Schumacher? What did you expect him to do, to move over, politely asking Montoya to pass him for the lead? This is motor sport! We want racing, wheel to wheel, and sometimes wing to wing, and this kind of stuff happens!
masklin3 8 months ago
@masklin3 You're right. I love F1 and I do love close racing, but there's no racing when Schumacher drives into the side of somebody when he should have realised that he's not got the space to maintain position.
djadudeguy 8 months ago
@djadudeguy then we just see racing different:). but the thing is you cannot only blame Schumacher for the accident. Montoya had his share as well, he had the whole track to go wide and avoid him. But they both took a chance and this happened. This is how I thing racing should be. For instance, think of China this year.Hamilton did a similar pass on Button, the difference being that Button, unlike Montoya, backed off. That's no fun.
