There is no winner. Both of these drummers have mastered their craft, just in different areas. After a certain skill level is achieved, talent recognition becomes purely personal preference. Both are masters and great drummers. Lets just leave it at that.

Tony Royster is really a fine ,fine drummer. As it was said in one comment,that he is today's drummer. Billy Cobham is not A master,he is THE master. There are lots pf drummers in various genres of music,but when iit come to pure talent there is NONE better then Billy Cobham!! BTW,I really did enjoy the way Tony explained how he went about achieving his technique.

Skill-wise I've never seen better than Tony, you may not like his style but, his timing, speed and mastery of velocity and touch is second to none. I wish I could even compete with either one of them, both were awesome

No way, Billy Cobham is the master. Tony sounds more modern, but Billy had all the jazz influence in his playing.
