could not get this to works at all, I tried white, yellow and pink legos none would even barely turn black. Am I doing something wrong I bought the liquid Rit black dye didn't think that would make a difference, does it?
Wow, good idea. I have always wondered if there was a good way to change a lego piece's color.
Something you didn't mention in the video, do you let the dye-water cool down at all (so you don't melt the plastic), or is the hot water not a problem.
@Shredscope The best part about it is that Rit dye only costs about $2.00 and can be used to dye a whole POUND of bricks. Also, It's not a top coat so the brick is the same exact size and shape - therefore - it will not hinder hinge joints or even stud friction.
@ProdigyTransformer Rit makes Navy Blue, Light Blue, Green, Red, Grey, and all sorts of other colors. They all take the same exact steps to accomplish.
@OptimusSmyth Not particularly. The only real restriction is that you can't go from dark colors to light colors. However, white can be dyed ANY color imaginable.
BLALLGLALALGGLGLA! It is taking dark gray pieces fucking forever to dye!

@orionsswords As long as you keep the water at a simmer, the plastic wont melt.

Seems this would work best if changing a white brick's color.
