To make clear to you what the modern terminology means, permitting if your feeble mind is able to grasp it, an automatic weapon is a broad umbrella spectrum, covering everything from the gau8 to the Glock 18, furthermore, the MP5 is not an assault rifle my any stretch of the imagination due to the fact that it is a carbine, an automatic weapon and fires pistol cartridges, it falls in a more specific sub class which is the SMG. This weapon is still under the automatic category.

There's actually a higher rate of violent crimes per capita in the UK oddly. That one Harry Potter actor got knifed to death! The death rate by firearms in the US is higher, but is pretty low compared to the amount of guns we have. I mean smoking deaths are higher. Lawful citizens are just that. Criminals will have weapons no matter what. Cops take postmortem reports.
