buy somthing like a 9800GT,HD 4850 4890 5770, GTX260

all of these cards will max out any game you can play on that monitor at 60fps..

this could save you about 1000 pounds (rather than buying 2x 5970)

If you REALLY want to overkill your games, go and buy a 5850 (DX11 + eyefinity compatible)

@Lemonaderz i got the 5850 overclocked edition from Club3d... and i run it on a 19" 4:3 monitor... runs great with new games everything above 50-60 FPS except old games like farcry and crysis wich stop at about 30-40 fps (they're meant to be played on Nvidia cards...)...

@uphill248 just check the cases, I'm afraid it doesn't say anything about DvDrom speed. though you will need a DvDRom to load the game onto your computer, after that you run the game from the harddrive (through steam for MW2)

radeon 5970 will max any game out and have over 60fps, theres no game out right now which that card cant handle easily, for now get a 2gb 5970 with a crossfire motherboard then when better games come out buy a second, then the prices will drop too

1) what monitor are you using (this will determine what card would be best for you)

2) Memory means nothing, if it did, my intergrated 1gb laptop memory would be able to play all the latest game, when in fact it lags on low settings World of warcraft.

also having crossfire graphic cards doesn't add the memory together, only the GPU's will work together (2gb DDR5 VRAM is plenty enough for anygame)

I had GTX 275, aka a stripped down GTX 285 with GTX 260 memory, and my friend a HD 4890, a "factory overclocked" HD 4870, that was owned in every single game we tried. we both have i7 920s and near same specs. 4890 is a good videocard but it is too noisy even if you set 40% rpm it sounds anoying and cooling system sucks.

when i play crysis the temperature rises up to 85 and the game starts to lag hard and even may close with error. :(

and yes he is... a 4890 is way better than a gtx 260.... and they are the same price so the 4890's would be much better bang for your buck. at stock its pretty much the same or better than gtx 275, and when u start using the huge overclock headroom the 4890 has, it can get very similar performance to a gtx 285.

You know, I don't know what Sapphire did with the cooler on this. But I've got the Sapphire 4890 and it looks nothing like this. I'm not sure whether the heat is being drawn in or blow out the back? Also, the cover for the entire cooler might as well not even be there. It's double slot and has a grill on the back, but no draft ever seems to come out. Though, the grill gets red hot at full stretch.

You can , but this will limit the speed. I recommend at least a 400 Watt PSU.

For instance the Cosair VX450W or the Enermax 85+ 425W ... they're enough for this card. Even for a 5850 , but if you're going for a 5970 , you should go for 500W+

I've seen 4870 vs 5770 and 4870 score higher in Crysis.

if that's a insanely clocked 4890 it should destroy the 5770.

800 stream processors is wrong, ati puts the processors in scalars, it takes 5 scalars to make one shader core, so 800/5 is 160 cores. Nvidia has 240 cores *5 would be equal to 1200shaders of ati's cores.

basicly what they did was just adding some better quality voltage regulators more precise and a tweaked voltage in order to achieve a much higher stable clock. many wil overclock to 1ghz. I bet the new RV870 chip is going to see a version like this one somewere in the near future.
