Today at the school where I did practicum in a class, a teacher mentioned that US has been allowing a lot of illegal immigrants, and immigrants into the US and they made a lot of mortgage loans to buy fancy house just to make money (like you mentioned) and have a lot to do with the mortgage crash. I told her that we cannot really target these immigrants since I am sure it also has a lot to do with US residents.
