  • If someone strugle by concentration to get around 130 to 135 in a admission's test for Mensa, do you think it's worth?

  • @viviane5572 -- well, if you qualify for Mensa, I would recommend joining. I have met some wonderful people there that I probably would not have met otherwise. As for the question of "struggling"... well I'm not sure. I did not take a special test to get into Mensa, they accepted a score from a test I took to get into college. Does this answer your question??

  • @girlgeniusNYC I only have a result around 127 -135 when I concentrate 100%, wich is difficult for me to do at the biggest part of the time, my mind just keep making associations, I mean distracted all the time, it's not something that bothers my life, still if I didn't have it, I would be able to be more functional in everything I do.

  • @viviane5572 -- it's really up to you. I am not sure which scores Mensa accepts from which IQ tests. It's a choice only you can make, there is no "right" answer. One thing you might want to do, is to attend some local Mensa events. Many of them are open to "potential members", so you can learn more about the organization. :-)

  • @viviane5572 -- why not attend some local Mensa events as a "potential member"? This way you can learn more about the organization and then decide if you want to join.

I am not sure which scores are accepted from which IQ test. You might already qualify!

  • @girlgeniusNYC Here it's rare from what I'v seen. Mensa members don't have any problem doing the test lol, I could have, because I could do it today and have a high score, and do it tomorrow having a much lower score lol I find it so strange

  • Nice video! You're very talented ;-)

  • @scarface82us -- Thank you so much! Your comment means a lot to me. :-)

  • @carmaj156 -- Thanks so much for your message. Sounds like you did very well on the test. I am not sure which tests Mensa accepts, or what scores are needed.

  • some of you is actually member of mensa?

  • @caramandunga100

Yes, the three people in the film are Mensa members (Gary the musician, Stef the dancer, and me, the singer.)

  • @girlgeniusNYC may i subscribe to your channel?

  • I am not a mensa member. I took the test and can safely say I don't belong there, I but admire those who do! You're so lucky! (and smart of course)

  • @MySerenity11

Thanks for your comment. I think everyone on the planet has special skills and talents. Really, all Mensa membership means is that we do really well on standardized tests!! :-)

  • @girlgeniusNYC I got a 133 on a WAIS III. Do I qualify to be a member? BTW I didn't realize what I was doing was an "official" test untill I finished.

  • fitz2321 -- Which city do you live in? There are many cool people in Mensa, but sometimes you have to look for them. My suggestion is that you become involved in some of the SIG's (Special Interest Groups). They have one for Gen X, Gen Y, science fiction, finance, opera, restaurants, etc. Many people are "smart" in different ways. By connecting with Mensans you share a common interest with, it's a lot more fun!!

  • Are there actually young decent looking girls in mensa??? I never go to those Friday night gatherings cause I figured it'd be full of old lame-o's but this bulgarian girl is a surprising twist. The average teenage girl while nice to look at really puts me to sleep (I'm 19)

  • @SgorfEhtEvas

Thanks for your comment. We don't have to agree on everything. I think there are many different types of intelligence, and many of them can be taught / learned.

As for what people are "proud" of -- when people are proud of their heritage, they usually participate in activities related to that heritage. So are they proud of what they "are", or what they "do"??

  • there are few things as shallow and childish as having pride in one's iq. taking it a step further and actively using it as an aspect of ones self identity is just gross. now, many other groups are guilty of similar offenses, so it may be hypocritical of me to ignore them, but seeing as this group is about intelligence, i feel i am right to judge, as i could realisticly expect in your people's case to have the sense to figure this out for yourselves.

  • @Tartersauce101

Hello. I am not quite sure I understand your comment. I do not have "pride" in my IQ. It is something that I did not earn, I was born with it. If the very idea of "Mensa" offends you, then you are welcome to ignore the organization entirely.

  • @Tartersauce101 So your point is that no man should be proud of his abilities.

Artists shouldn't be proud because of their talent? Singers shouldn't be proud of their voice?

Don't attack a group of people just because you don't belong among them.

  • Intelligence is like a river. The deeper it is, the less noise it makes.

  • @celinocaliente2002

That's interesting, but I don't quite agree. In some cases, artistic genius resonates so loudly, and shines so brightly, people sit in awe. For example -- Mozart, Beethoven, etc.

  • @girlgeniusNYC

Well, I wouldn't describe what Mozart and Beethoven did as noise.

In the phrase I wrote, I think 'to make noise' refers to a person expressing useless information / ideas. Like saying "some people get very offended when they find out that I have a very high IQ ".

  • @celinocaliente2002

Let's make sure we are on the same page. If, when, and how to tell friends that one is a member of Mensa can be a delicate situation. It's sort of like coming from lots of money -- not something you want to brag about, but sooner or later the people close to you will find out.

  • We get your jokes...how did you not understand that. It means they understand intellectual jokes as well.

  • @Masterwow123

Thanks for your comment. For me, humor is separate from intelligence. That is what I meant.

  • Can any of these people bend spoons ?

That would be cool to see. The bulgarian chick with the mexican accent is pretty hot....

  • An okay video, it would have been much better if you cut out the dead air and increased the pace. Also, the framing on the camerawork was pretty funny at times, like including the guy behind the piano or the stretching rollerblader.

  • i really admire people of such IQ calibers. so is it like always being on the top of Maslow's pyramid?

  • wtf? why would anyone get offended by the fact that you are in Mensa... as for being smart and cool, I don't understand why it appears that people assume the two are mutually exclusive. All my friends are really smart, and I tend to think they are pretty cool also. But then again we are pretty laid back about this type of thing down here in New Zealand.

  • I know what you mean, but in reality they will never be in the same atmosphere, unless the smart person wants to elude his intelligence while around others to come off as "cool." I did this all the time while I was in school, but I realize now that the reason the two things don't mix is, quite frankly, because average, below average, or even a little above average people cannot comprehend the logical principles that govern us all and the so-called "intellectual" person points them out bluntly.

  • these guys seem smarter than simon cowell -- and trust me, that's saying a lot!!! and way cool... cooler than, say, miles davis

  • i suppose. at least you didn't shove your smarts in people face. i hate people who do that.

  • very good!!!
