Nice pics. I just picked up this 35mm f/1.8G lens about a week ago. I was debating between this one and the 50mm f/1.8D for my Nikon D7000. So happy I picked this one up. Very nice lens. My favorite part is probably the manual focus over-ride. I am very impressed with this lens. Definitely a keeper! :)
Hi, I love everything about this lens except I 've got one problem that whenever I take group photo, someone one is always out of focus. I have Nikon D3000, someone mentioned I need to increase the aperture from 1.8 to 2.8+. What is the best camera setting to use while shooting manually?
@prabesh182 it varies with every shot. Thats why you really have to keep using manual, and master it. Yes the others will be out of focus because the bigger the aperture (1.8) the less depth of field you get.
Try getting a tripod, if you can afford one and set it to maybe 5.6? And bumping the shutter speed down to suit. Depends on how bright the day is, and if you're in a shadey area or not. So play around with it.

@BerkeleyBuilt Yeah, i would have too man, its such a good lens, although now if im in a crowded place i also bring the 11-16mm 2.8, and keep it on 16. The wide shots are good when you cant get the shot with the 35 :P
@BerkeleyBuilt Take a bunch of shots (if its a still life) from the focus point being at the back, then to the front, then in PS combine the focused shots for one crisp image. This is how you do macro photography :P
shots are pretty decent...and I really didn't notice that much editing aside from levels/brightness/contrast/exposure...the normal, usual stuff...which is really good.
what did you use to make the slideshow with?what program?
@exnavi Personally i like the 35mm better, but the 50mm is very good bokeh also. Its mostly preference with these two. I only prefer the 35mm because on my d7000 its equal to 52mm. On a 35mm frame camera though, i would probably say the 50mm. Just my opinion.

@TehHelpStation true, i only brought my 50mm from 1979. i hate having to manual focus, and the focal length didn't do my pictures any good.

Well done...some very good shots. I am not a pro or anything but, from my perspective, I think you shoot well.
BTW, what aperture are you using for your group shots and portraits?
jedigclyn 5 months ago
@jedigclyn Well atm i dont do group shots and portraits but depending how soft i want the feel to be from 2.8-5.6 most likely.

hey man, i cant decide between the 35mm 1.8g or the 50mm 1.8g. i need it mainly for portraits and landscape with good bokeh
FMKrack 6 months ago
@FMKrack Well it depends on what camera you use. If its a DX camera (cropped sensor) Then choose the 35mm 1.8g.
If you use a the d700 and up, (FX) 35mm full sized 35mm sensor, then go with the 50mm 1.8g
Also, if you can afford it, the 35mm 1.4g Is crazy good. Better than the 1.8g. But, either .4 or .8, they are both sick lenses.

nice share. btw, 35mm 1.8G & 50mm 1.8G, which one has a better bokeh?
