The first IRA was grass-roots, and socialist, and pitted against the owners of the large estates, that derived from the time of British Imperialism, in the Republic, as well as the Prostant power-structure in Ulster. It disbanded, suddenly, and dissapeared, off the face of the earth, around '72, and was replaced by the ProvO IRA, established by two men. One was English. It was funded and armed by CIA, at times, according to S McBride, who should know. Draw your own conclusions from that.
gerry adams almost single handedly persuaded almost all militant republicans to give up the fight and support his moves for the northern assembly. it is nothing short of a miracle that he was successful in this. but that's not to say that gerry doesn't have a few skeletons. did he let hunger strikers die for propaganda (possibly), did he order the death of british informer jean mcconville (most likely), was he a member of ira (of course he was). but that's the life of a freedom fighter great man
Godbrother10: You are saying Adams etc take an allowance from their uk parliamentary remuneration, and an 'industrial salary' whatever that is, from a job they do not do. (i.e. being a member of the UK parliament). That's called bludging isn't it? As for them investing it in their consituencies . . . how? In what? Where's the public record of the investment? Invested in what exactly, how much? They like Paisley and his lot are just bludgers ripping off the poor; catholic and unionist alike.
@corpbs1 If its a job he doesn't do well? then why are they re-elected - repsect their mandate. Look at the houses and living standards of most Sinn Fein MPs and MLAs if they're in it for the money!
You can write personally to them if you want to know where the money goes but in no way does it go into their pockets.
@corpbs1 I believe they have used their right as MPs to rent an apt in London for westminister. they infact dont rent in London (as they dont take up their office in Westminster) but put it down as an expense This money goes into expenses a/c an in turn re invested into Belfast
@corpbs1 what do u mean " a job they do not do"....SF represent the people that vote for them much better than any other party and work extremely hard on the ground for them! They dont have to sit in a Brit house and swear an allegence to a foreign monarchy to do this, and yes unlike any other party in ireland these representatives take a capped wage, they are NOT career politicians and are NOt their for their own greed, rather to represent their people! Maith thu SF!
@phoenix1916 Yes its what they are saying on the other side my God my country my flag.
Look what they are doing in Stormont? Cutting the working man to the bone?
For the people of Ireland the wealth of Ireland, the philosophy of tone and Connolly,Is that happening in Stormont? I dont see any difference between Thatcher, Haughey, and Bush, they are nationalist? They have the same policy as the D U P.I deal in facts, not illusions and lies, and i dot pray in irish.Socialist no way!!! Thatcherites Y

@phoenix1916 They sinn fein are pure sectarian, causing division and conflict in working class comunitys the psychological damage they have done is unsurmontable, with hatred and bitterness, sir please examine it without prejudice or tribal religious conditioning. As wolf tone once said "A fragmented mind lacks intelligence"
@calBHA1 hes not a traitor mate, you cant achieve a united ireland through warfare, its too complicated and tough. Far easier if we do it through peace. Gerry is alot wiser than you think.
I don't suppose anyone thought to mention the surname "McGonville" to Gerry?
If he wants to abstain from the UK parliament, why does he keep standing for it?
The IRA and it's royalist opponents were, are, thugs and terrorists responsible for muders, corruption, and crass violence. There never was, and never will be, justification for that. Adams was IRA. But he knows nothing? McGonville. McGonville.
@corpbs1 No I don't think anyone has thought to say that...mainly because her name was Jean McConville. Brendan Hughes only made these accusations on the condition that they were released after his death, why would he do this? Could it that he had no basis for his claims, other than his resentment towards Sinn Fein’s peace strategy. ...
@godbrother10 (Cont.) No one believes Hughes’ elaborate tale told to condone the killing of Jean McConville, but yet his allegation against Adams is being given credibility and is being treated as gospel. Where exactly do Hughes’ lies end and the truth begin, if he were a witness in court he would be highly unreliable
@corpbs1 For Sinn Fein to take their seats in Westminster they'd have to sell out on their Republican beliefs. Sinn Fein provides full representation through the Sinn Fein offices in Westminster, and through their presence in every major decision making forum in Ireland and in Europe. The party's main long term goal is a complete contradiction to the oath so it'd be wrong for them to take it.
@corpbs1 long story cut short... the ira were at war with the british establishment, during this war although the british tried to say the ira were common criminals clearly they were not in every way they and their actions were not just crime, you may not agree with this but the basic fact is "it was a war" and therefore the term terrorist is wrong and as much as you may disagree with it the basic fact is that they were "freedom fighters" Sin E...
@corpbs1 Its McConville You ignorant fucker !! and many people have asked Gerry that, But I assume from your ignorance of calling Jean McConville, McGonville , That you haven't bothered to research what your talking about! I only reply Because I have seen you comment on many Gerry videos so maybe your being paid to advance a smear !!
I would worry less about your prized freedom from Britain and more about the unelected, dictatorial, top heavy bureaucracy being set-up in Brussels right now.
They've given you a lot of sweeties thus far, but it will turn into a nightmare to be sure. The Euro has already turned you into a Yuppie republic, and your press sold its soul in brainwashing you into voting yes.
gerry has done more for the stuggle than we will ever no all the so called rira cira people what the fuck have you done UP THE PROVOS TIOCFAIDH AR LA SINN FEIN
Its ironic that people from the UK do not know what devolved government is, maybe thats what the problem is? West minister does not control devolution. The people and local elections do for an entity state. And N.Ireland is as much a part of the Republic now than it ever was. Anglo Irish agreement proves this, just like what happened with Hong Kong and China. Northern Ireland will eventually be integrated with the Republic.
Now that Nick Griffin is garnering popular support in the UK, perhaps the liklihood of despatching tanks and warplanes to 'eliminate' West Belfast trouble-spots is on the cards.
Brilliant video Godbrother10!...I just hope that the people who watch it ,understand it and put the guns down for good. All the best mate! Tiocfaidh Ar La!.Vote Sinn Fein!
Hold on, you see at 1:35, that Daithi O'Conail, right, and the video camera says 1986. 1986 was the year daithi and ruari walked out on provisional sinn fein and formed republican sinn fein, due to provos accepted the legitimacy of the 26 county state. Why did gerry shake daithi's hand there and pat him on the back, was he attempting to reconcile the walkout??
Superbly made video, I was tempted to make a similar one but it wouldn't have been a fraction as good as this. One thing though, why does Gerry Adams still deny being a member of the Provisional IRA when there is that footage (it's at 0:42 in this video) of him saying "we fight on behalf of the people... we could not survive almost 8 years of war unless they wanted to support us"? It's hard to see how that could mean anything other than the Provos.
There are many different forms of fighting! it is still illegal to be or proclaim to be a member of Óglaigh na hÉireann this is a clandestine organisation and NO one ever admitted to being a member, except M Mc Guinness!
fantasic video...i am english with some irish ancestry and i hold gerry adams in very high regard. i think he has not been given the credit he deserves by people outside of ireland for what he has achieved and his role in peace.
Well done Gerry, may he continue for many years. Sinn Fein to continue growing!
Sinn fein stood firmly behind the people in resisting british terror in ireland and made a heavy price having 15 of the party members murdered by pro British terrorists, history will judge them, SF Abu!
