the only cool thing about this band is that Ed King, who later joined Lynard Skynard was in it. I remember walking along PCH with some friends in 1970 when I was about 16. We walked by the Golden Bear and the marquee sign was advertising SAC but what we heard coming through the open door was no hippy dippy shit. The door guy let us in for cheap since it was late and there weren't many people there and let me tell you they were playing some of the baddest ass blues/rock I'd ever heard.
What a bunch of hacks, typical of the Los Angeles scene. While San Fran was turning out the real acid bands,LA was puting out weak bubblegum imitators. From the backing la la la vocals to the go-go beat and contrived lyrics,SAC had a cliched forgetable sound that blended in with all the AM pop music of the time.
"Tomorrow" was a national Top 40 hit, so it is not like it was a flop. Strawberry Alarm Clock was not a one hit wonder by any stretch, although "Tomorrow" was not the smash of "Incense".
i love this song sooo much the minute i heard it I went out to by the cd and it is so before my time well it's a year older than me .. so 60ish it so cool :)
I was 21 when this song came out, it was a groovy time for all of us that are Boomers, I'm sure that all of my fellow Boomers will agree!. rexowens1000
I'm too young to have been around in the 60s, but this makes me think of walking around Huntington Beach on a summer day in 1967, just soaking it all in. Parts of it remind me of the Association.
When I was a kid I used to go to a skating rink where they'd play only oldies music over the speakers and I distinctly remember hearing this song and others like it: "These Eyes" and "Laughing" from the Guess Who and "Michelle" from The Beatles. People would bring their dates and skate. It was a really great time.
To all of the young whippersnappers who make fun of this stuff...if you could've seen the chicks back then, you would have worn beads, long hair, and groovy clothes too!

just a great little tune...my only wish was that it was about 30 seconds long. as someone said earlier, it's one of the better sounding tunes of the 60s, and it DOES have harmonization similar to that of the association.
I must declare here that psychedelic music does not neccesarily have to do with drugs. The intention was that the music itself should broaden the listening experience.
I think "neccesarily" is the key word. I was born the year this song was recorded, but my understanding is that psychedelic culture was very much informed by psychedelic drugs.
@ahniditab Exactly. Though I've done some drugs in the past, I'm happy to be sober and enjoy this music with the mindset of a powerful experience. The drugs did help me broaden my horizons but now I don't need them.
i have been saying how horrible most of SAC'S songs are .... and i have to admit .... that i never heard this version of this song ..... and it has to be the best song in all of their archives. still don't care for the lyrics ..... but the sound ... is very nice!
@jwmellott Then maybe you also watched Laugh-In & recall oft-run the clip of the raincoat guy on the tricycle: that's from the video to this song, which was also run on Laugh-In.
"Far out, man!" This sounded so trippie when it came out. I still love it - the fuzz guitar, the Leslie organ and the echo at the end lock it right into the 60's. You don't get album art like that anymore, either. Light up the incense and peppermint and crank up the Fischer stereo system.
What Memories! I grew up with Lee Freeman when they lived in Burbank in the 50's. His mom gave my mom this album when they first made it. Man I do miss the 60's. Easier times. Rock On Lee... J
their music is freakin chill & trippy my fav
