Okay so, 1. I would pay off any debts I had. 2. I would visit my very close friend in Phoniex 3. I would by a driving Instructor so I could finally have my license! I would probably keep about a million/half a million and stick it on interest, keep it for a rainy day, so to speak. And the rest I would probably just give away...I don't really need that much money to be honest....
I dont believe that happiness exists, cuz for me its a state of mind and a state of mind is continuous but were never always happy so happiness doesnt exist. What does exist though is the beauty of little things that make u temporarily happy, which are different for each person. What does anyone else think?
2. I'd buy a house for my grandparents, closer to where I live (they've wanted to move here for years)
3. I'd invest the rest by buying stocks, buildings, etc so that I could make more money to donate...
I'd rather use excess money that I make to help others that need it more than me. And honestly? I actually mean that... Family and friends are much more important to me.
I know you posted this a couple months ago - but been busy & am seeing it for the
first time (and hope you'll see my "comments" - when you return with a new year vid) First: (nearly) EVERYONE watches "60 minutes", reason its been a #1 or
top 5 show for all these years (decades!). In a sea of much garbage - it's a
genuine class act; even more so since gay bro Anderson Cooper has become a regular contributor. Second: Money can buy instant gratification - but not real/ lasting happiness!
A slightly disagree with the video description, I say that money does make you happy but people make you far happier! If you are deprived of either thing then you are unhappy, therefore money has to offer some happiness
Well, after paying the taxes on the money: finish paying my loans, put a few hundred thousand for a house and just keep the rest for my summer vacation airfare.
One thing I don't get is that for some reason, a lot of people like to believe that it's black and white. That you can either have money or be happy. Money can't buy you happiness, sure. But that doesn't mean that once you get rich you lose all sense of meaning in your life. It's possible to have those same friendships/loving relationships that you had when you *weren't* rich. It's just, this time you have money too. I don't really see it as an either/or kind of situation.
I'm very disappointed in you... "Nerdy band hat." No! It's a shako! (Unless that's just what they're called in Indiana, or maybe just in Avon...) Have you heard of the Avon Marching Black and Gold? (Just curious cause us band geeks got to stick together)
But once again... disappointed...
(And I'm hoping that it's obvious that I'm not serious)
1. pay off my home, so I don't have t sweat it any more.
2. take my 91 year old father back to India on a vacation to visit all the spots he lived as a member of the US Army Air Corps in WW II [he still bikes 10 to 40 miles a day, so he's in better shape than me].
3. buy a building for local service & recovery organizations to use for meetings and office space, with several units of affordable housing on upper floors; should be self-sustaining.
1. Theres this AMAZING massage chair at Brookstone that's like 5 thousand dollars but its like heaven in a massive chair. so thats one.
2. hmm. A nice computer. My computer is kinda shit. So I would like an uber fast, awesome computer with like.... a nice monitor, keyboard, mouse, webcam, etc.
3. Uuuuuuuuuuuuuh. A moderately nice car. Im not talking like Ferrari (look at me, referencing the video title) but like.... something thats pretty cool and runs well.
I would invest that million dollars and grow it and then reinvest it, then if I felt like I made enough, I might spend some, save some, and reinvest the rest.
@kdyfiejfj by the way, the Ferrari is great fun, but because it is Italian and owned by Fiat, it breaks down a lot. Buy a Lambo, it's owned by VW so you get German reliability and engineering. Me, I'm more of an Aston Martin and Bentley guy. And privated jets travel is much better than commercial, trust me. G550 Gulfstream can get you to Europe in half the time of a commercial airliner. Gulfstreams are also American made which means American jobs.
Alec, happiness was studied academically in Chicago university some years ago. It was an extensive psychology research and it's published in this book "Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience" by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. I suggest you read this book. It was concluded that all people reported feeling happiness when they were involved in something called "optimal experience". Such experience has some characteristics..I'm running out of room to type so read that book yourself..It's awesome...
I watched the movie two to three years ago. And its one of my favorites. It got me how their life is the worst of the worst but they still manage to be happy. Pursuit of Happyness.
i'd just like to say: i knew you before Luan exploited you :P
now i'll take ur question and turn it into "What would you DO with the money?" :)
1) Give each of my closest friends a very generous share of it <3
2) Shoppin spree! :D and yes, when i'd put my head on the pillow i would be happy :) (at least until i wear every new item at least once) :P but then i'd just seek out joy from my friends
3) Throw a party for my friends. random party. no reason. just cause i love em <3
what is this obsession with the "european vacation" by americans? U went over there to get away from us. And it really isn't that good. And scandinavian countries have a lot of the same problems u do so they are not a utopia like ppl think.
I'd buy (1) a shit-ton of makeup, (2) a shit-ton of clothes, and (3) a shit-ton of body mods. And those would all make me happier than I am now, because when you're as poor as me, money is happiness.
money does make you happy. to be honest you cant say people who have a lot of money isnt happy because they have money i mean the stuff about money can buy you happiness is started by a bunch of jealous people so yeah. :s
I don't know. I might actually prefer not to buy anything and instead use the million dollars to quit my job, invest, maybe move to another country and start anew, because, while money can't buy you happiness, having to get up every single day to go to work to earn a living does kinda suck sometimes.
woohoo! congrats on getting partnered.....you deserve it!!!....anyway i think i would Travel the world, Buy a house and the rest would go into savings, if there was any left.....and this video is sooooo true! money doesn't buy happiness.....although traveling the world would make me happy.....but meeting my man will be my ultimate happiness....if it someday happens......Great Video BTW! =]

Some people who have little money are satisfied and content; some people with little money are sad and depressed. i wouldn't buy three "things" really, but i would pay off my college loans/tuition, see some broadway shows, and travel, and anything left over would go into savings.
exchange 1 million dollars to Britain which makes it almost 2 million pounds. Put into high interest savings account and live off interest. It's not wealth, it's monthly income that counts. Do another blogTV soon. See ya.
And no disrespect to all those people who are off to Africa to build schools etc with their million bucks? - you wouldn't! - 3 things? Invest the bulk of it for a small regular income then spoil myself to a new guitar and a new 2 seater soft top car of some kind
You are on the right track. I hope you never fall into the trap of rampant consumerism. I also hope that you are in well and enjoying your seniro year.
$1 million, hmmmm
1.) Pay off student loans and start Ph. D. program
It's true what you said about Denmark, in fact the Nordic Countries are home to the happiest people in the world! Finns, Danes, Swedes, Norwegians and Icelanders have always ranked as the happiest in the world thanks to our "Nordic Model" of government where we have high taxes but enjoy free healthcare, higher education, retirement, etc., so money is never a barrier to success and happiness for us.
Disneyland! No wait.. ok fine.. umm I guess put some large portion towards important things (house and what not). Then some for pins and shit, and throw in some other random Disney crap. Then Art supplies/ and or editing software on my computer to encourage a large portion of my hopefully future job of Animation :P
I would buy a corvette zr1, a house and put 250,00 away to pay for the car (GAS, insurance, maintenance, etc.) then the rest would be invested in various places prolly alot in GM's IPO.
Wow. You are very attractive and smart. Very nice video. Let's see with $1 million I will pay for my college, start my clothing business and buy my self a very nice house.
I would use the money to legally purchase each and every one of the actors and actresses who are associated with the Harry Potter movies / franchise and force them to reenact every single scene in every movie for me daily.
my school has those EXACT hats.... like seriously... some of them still have the feathers too
i would prolly put 750, 000 into different bank accounts and let them gain interest, then live off that interest. the rest would prolly go to college for me, and then college for my sister-in-law
I don't seek money but i seek power and access. but if i have 1 million dollards i would put everything into my college fund and my fund for my company in the future.
Mr. P watches 60 minutes! i heard him say that once in class. :D
and wealthy ppl to me have the worst lives. i would like to stay in the middle class. as long as i have a house with a backyard in a safe neighborhood, i'm good.
oh. and it needs to be near the Hp theme park.
my three things are:
give some of that money to WWF and Nat Geo
help my family in brazil
go to the hp theme park and pay to see jk. rowling.
ahaha not well thought out but those are rough ideas.
One million dollars. well thats a life time supply of toilet paper, seriously. Dont worry guys, while you are sleeping us zeitgeist members are trying to fix the money issue. :) you re welcome :)
maybe you should watch sixty minutes - or read a newspaper- you would know some of the richest people have given away far more money than they ever spent on themself
just for your information - 60 min has been on over 40years and has always been one of the highest rated show on tv
I'd get a car, and maybe a build me a new computer, then I'd give some to my parents, so they can catch up on bills and other expenses, maybe pay off their house, etc.
I'd prolly spend some on rent for an apartment, and all those expenses, but other than that, I can't think of anything else.
First thing I'd do is buy a cheapish house somewhere with a big garden. Secondly I'd like go to an animal rescue center and help as many of the animals as I possibly could. Anything else would just get me through college and maybe visit the US! :)
A couple of plane tickets........buy out a very successful bussiness that has the tiniest chance of going under......very small but good apartment.

exchange 1 million dollars to Britain which makes it almost 2 million pounds. Put into high interest savings account and live off interest. It's not wealth, it's monthly income that counts. Do another blogTV soon. See ya.

@MrStopper1 what makes you think $1 million is worth 2 million pounds. One pound = $1.60 !!!!
nexttsar 1 year ago
@nexttsar oh shit sorry. wrong way around. I would keep in America as in Britain it would be worth £617,067.31. I stand corrected.

And no disrespect to all those people who are off to Africa to build schools etc with their million bucks? - you wouldn't! - 3 things? Invest the bulk of it for a small regular income then spoil myself to a new guitar and a new 2 seater soft top car of some kind

I love your videos!

my three things are:
give some of that money to WWF and Nat Geo
help my family in brazil
go to the hp theme park and pay to see jk. rowling.

maybe you should watch sixty minutes - or read a newspaper- you would know some of the richest people have given away far more money than they ever spent on themself
just for your information - 60 min has been on over 40years and has always been one of the highest rated show on tv

I'd pay for my college tuition
I'd donate money to charities, which includes giving money to people literally on the street
I'd give some to my parents so that they could pay for shit.

I'd get a car, and maybe a build me a new computer, then I'd give some to my parents, so they can catch up on bills and other expenses, maybe pay off their house, etc.
I'd prolly spend some on rent for an apartment, and all those expenses, but other than that, I can't think of anything else.
I'd put the rest in savings, lol.

Congrats on Partner btw!!!
ooook, so if I had $1,000,000
First thing I'd do is buy a cheapish house somewhere with a big garden. Secondly I'd like go to an animal rescue center and help as many of the animals as I possibly could. Anything else would just get me through college and maybe visit the US! :)
