I ran a Dive business in Costa Rica for 3 years... And I have got to say that this Video is full of B.S.... For starters the coast guard scene is totally fake...I have been aboard the Costa Rican Coast Guard Cutters... They have a 50cal on the bow and are itching to use it...They totally would have blown them out of the water... But this video shows them on some dudes fishing boat instead... It's funny how stupid and gullible people are if they see the name "National Geographic"...

The fact is that there are way too many sharks... Sharks eat everything they can get into their mouths including endangered rare fish species... Man is natures only shark control... The only problem is that commercial shark fishermen are allowed to waste the meat, oil and skin and just take the shark fin... Now that goes beyond waste...

If a shark eats a rare fish(which is complete BS), then that is part of the natural selection process.

note: Sharks clean the oceans of dead and dying animals. The strong survive, the weak are eaten...rare or not.

it may be really wasteful, but the principal of taking a shark is wrong. sharks don't just eat anything on sight. and sharks don't need to be controlled. if they eat an endangered species, 99/100 cases, whose fault is it they're endangered in the first place? ours.
