Hi :^) You have no idea how ridiculously helpful this is! I've read endless patterns with so sparse instructions that I've been unable to decipher what the heck they mean to attach the flaps! Wish you'd have continued on! However, I think - hope - this will help me. :^) Thank you, julie
Thanks for the tip on attaching the ear flap and cable cast on. I think i may be using your pattern you had posted somewhere. As i am making a flap hat for my son.
Could you please tell me what side of the earflap you begin knitting in? It looks like purl, but the piece is too dark to tell. When I follow the directions working the purl side, a line of purl stitches appears on the knit side of the earflap! What is the possibility of your including the directions for this in the text of the pattern posted or ? Thank you very much. Oh, is your background a waterproof mattress pad for a baby's crib? Looks familiar.
When looking at the earflap straight on, right side up, I start from the right side and work to the left. As in, the knit side is facing me, and I knit across from right to left.
Thank you so much for posting this. So many patters are not quite what I am looking for and their instructions are so confusing! Great to look and see how it is done so I can make my own pattern up.
Oh! I get it now! I was reading a pattern and was all "huh?" but thats actually pretty easy, especially since ive only been knitting for a few months.

Ah. When I asked the question I was using a computer in a public library with no sound. That is why I wished the directions were also in print.
Thank you.

Great job and it was so helpful even to an experienced knitter. What a great concept!
