  • this song has the difficulty of shoving a straw up your own ass and then sucking it

i barely learned to play this today

  • I HATE you!!

  • your the cat pajamas brother, this and your other demonstrations , impressive .... Steely Dan Tribute Band?

  • Wow.

  • always laugh at these posers that can copy but can't write anything

  • @ivanzuc what have you written or copied?

  • @ivanzuc Oh yes because your account has so many better videos than this one..

  • *bows down*

  • nice technique but the tone, intonation, and fretboard squeal are all really distracting. that's a horrible solid state distortion you're using. and the treble from the sg isn't helping with it. other than that, very cool fingerwork.

  • Awesome dude!

  • Damn! This makes me appreciate that old music more than ever. I grew up on this shit, but I never saw anybody play it.

  • Wow... I'm fucked... you showed me the whole damn thing and I'll still never get it right...

Thanks, though. That's really fun to watch. Almost like someone told me how to juggle... TOLD me... and I know I'll never juggle...

  • oh and..i just added u to my favs...and i'm picky.

  • wait a minute.....you're not playguitarsolo dude...U R Denny Diaz!!!...or his equally talented but evil twin.

Bow down my brother...we're not worthy!....freaking fantastic.

  • That was very good. Did Denny Dias do that solo originally?

  • @AresCassell Yes he played the first solo. The second solo is Jeff "Skunk" Baxter.

  • @stoobeetube OK. Thanks.

  • @stoobeetube

Denny Dias is the first solo

  • is that a gibson sg robot silverburst

  • 10/10. that was magnificent. I play drums and dabble in guitar and i truly wish i could play like you. you are an amazing guitarist and i admire your abilities great job.

  • Whoa. Well done.

  • top marks man, hats off. Any guitar player knows its one thing to reel off a complex 'out there' solo, altogether another for a different player to learn it note for note. Much much harder. You did it here. Great stuff.

  • I bought a guitar mag some years ago with the tab for this tune...I'm gonna burn it! Dude, serious respect coming your way for how you nailed that! My goal as a guitar player is to one day pull this solo off...It's nice to know humans are capable of such a lofty feat!

  • You bastard! That was awesome!!!

  • Ja ia comentar em ingles ... até ver a camiseta ! Arregaçou , as notas e as posiçoes estao bem claras, vai facilitar muito pra eu tirar o solinho agora !

    Abracooos ! Nice

  • A couple of clams but more than a passing ++ on a complicated piece of music.

    Nice -

  • @CANNENZ4 a coupla clams? r u outta yer mind? dude IS Denny Diaz.

  • Unbelievably fantastic dude !!!

  • My brain hurts.Kicks ass

  • Very cool - how about posting a tab of the solo when you have a free minute or two?

  • I give him an 11 that was fuckin crazy good

  • Outrageously great! - friggin VERBATIM! and BTW SGs RULE!!!

  • ur fingers are like trained assassins...well done

  • Danny Dias in disguise?

  • Found my way here from Alice Cooper's Twitter :)

  • Well done Sir. Very accurate, and fluently performed.

  • Fu*K me .You nailed that sucker.I wouldn't have thought it possible if I hadn't seen it - note for damn note !

    Respect my friend

  • OI what's wrong with playing an SG bellend?

  • for me, it's a little too much of a buzzsaw tonally, and no one's going to perfectly cop the original "touch" of these breaks, but this is still plenty impressive.

  • Damn, did you figure that out, or did Dias show it to you?

  • damn! excellent cover dude o.o

  • Very cool. 9 out of 10. Would have been a 10 but you're playing an SG.

  • @SaintStephen68 SGs are the shiznit man.

  • @SaintStephen68 SG wtf

  • @SaintStephen68 Seriously? you just said that? SG's rule

  • @SaintStephen68 Wait...Saint Stephen...A Grateful Dead song....Jerry Garcia.....He played an SG all the time!!

  • @SaintStephen68 YOU DONT DO WHAT I DO SO YOU'RE BAD! KILL YOU ARE SELF

  • @SaintStephen68 im pretty sure that is an sg

  • @SaintStephen68

As opposed to a Plexiglass Roland Gr 505 with a Fender neck and Skunk-o-Sonic pickups.

  • GIBSON FTW

  • Hats of to you sir :)

  • Holy fuck nailed it man perfection. You're sure you didn't dub a bootleg of just the guitar onto this ?? Just kidding good job buddy !!

  • Awesome!!! Where's the fastly strummed part though lol

  • LOL!

    Show off! ;-)

  • Ringo Was the one who said " Ive got blisters on my fingers"

  • amazing! well done!

  • Fuck me backwards with a nine foot donkeys dongler....I've been trying to crack this for years and you've nailed it man. Wicked playing..thanks.

  • how!!!! god give me the skills now!

  • Get down brother! Nice job!

  • So perfect sounding. Tone and everything.

  • I just LOVE how you play this!

  • wow , no sabia que don francisco tocara la guitarra asi de bien!!! xD

  • Great job. I would have liked to see Baxter ending solo however.

  • Sounds good to me excellent

  • Go man GO!!

I would have to inject my lazy fingers with amphetamines!

  • Great job!! But I wish I could have turned the gain down a bit on your fuzz box.

  • Damn good!

  • You go. Great job.

  • yoooo good man!!!!

  • wow great playing!! nice sound out of that sg!!!!!

  • lol awsome 5 out 5

  • No you didn't!

  • I will go to your school on this. Denny Dias you will speak down the ages! Thanks!

  • nice to see an older guy like me playing sooooo well. Your skills are amazing! the professor

  • The solo was done by Denny Diaz. The second solo, which ends the song, was done by Skunk Baxter. Denny has jazz training and really burns up the chords.

  • killer!

    well done

  • Absolutely splendid and so accurate too. Your guitar gives a chorus effect with the guitar on the record. Well done. I really enjoyed it. I wish I could play like that.

  • one hell of a guitar riff ,nice to know someone can burn it up other than Becker

  • Well, hate to be so specific...but that was Skunk Baxter's solo...for all of SD's early career, meaning up to Gaucho, Becker only played bass and some guitar, but the solos on the first three albums are done by Jeff Baxter and Denny Dias. Then they brought in studio players when the band split up.

  • @rhwheeler77ify It's Denny Dias's solo. Skunk plays the outro solo. :)

  • now that is really impressive. to bad i dont think it's fun to play guitar, otherwise i would learn that.

  • you probably don't think it's fun cause you can't play lol

  • um... did you think that was a clever comeback?

  • That was sweet!

  • you play great man how much have you been playing?

  • That was awesome. Loved it.

  • DUDE!!!

  • 5* your great

  • great nice job

  • Damn nice job! Very tastefully done Kudos to you

  • Yeow! If I could play this solo I'd be a very happy boy.

  • NICE!!!

  • Wow you got it. That's a lot of work. Excellent job, from the number one SD fan

  • Really nice, except for the dastardly string squeals during the intro F to G chords. Always loved this solo...

  • you must be joking?? you're worried about the string squeals on the barre chords, the guy just played one of the most difficult solos in pop/rock - note for note & you are talking about string squeals..we are comin to getch ya..

  • Yeah, my comment was a little 'nit picky', huh? Agreed, this is one amazing repro of an epic guitar solo... (Thanks for the 'heads up' on my snobbish comment) Peace.

  • that is unbeleivable!!!!!!! absolute masterpiece, the skunk would be proud himslef probably!

  • fantastic playing!!!

  • Awesome stuff. I don't even have balls to TRY this solo, much less nail it. Nice job.

  • Conversely, I don't have the nails to try it so therefore would balls it!

    Gary Rollagher.

  • gary Rollagher what is that Rory Gallagher backwards??? is that your real name..if it is cool!!

  • Dear KMOS8115,

Of course Gary Rollagher is my real name!

To be sure, this will be confirmed if you Google the Reverend Spooner.

    Best wishes,

G.R. as it says underneath the scratchplate on my Strat!

  • aw, you skipped the "fast picking" part?

  • i always watch this video. it makes me happy that people play steely with such passion!

  • hes miming

  • Lol, then why is the guitar louder than everything else, and the tone is nothing like the original in the intro?

  • oh, dear !!!!

    i was joking !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oops, lol, sarcasm is hard to convey online...

  • Your playing is, or should be illegal.. My favorite band, NEVER heard anyone nail these leads EVER!! Great chops!!

  • Has Ravi Shankar gained weight?

  • man, that's really impressive... damn difficult solo spot on. Beautiful!

  • definately the best cover of the solo ive ever seen!!

  • Yeah I agree with andreghouse, if you had a slightly cleaner tone it would be perfect.

  • Yeah, but it's an SG, so there's not too much he can do about it, lol.

  • Great fun to watch you shred!

  • this made my day!! awesome!!!

    love the Dan

  • nice.

  • About as close to note-for-note as I've ever heard on this song. That guy is a Monster.

  • Holy Cow... You made the final cut.

  • very good job to pull this off. I don't wht the knuckle heads are talking about lack of soul. My only critiscism would be about the sound of the guitar. I think it is a little to dirty, but other than great job. Well done!!

  • I hate you ......

  • do you know what scale the solo is played in?

  • holy S#$% wow what can you say but

wow..perfect as to the no soul comment

how bout' NO BRAIN how do you know what he's feeling, like someone said he doesn't have to have his tongue hanging out or dripping saliva to have feel.nonetheless what a player..

  • great job! that idiot doesn't have a clue what soul is, great choice of song too!

  • Gorgeous.

  • Excellent.

  • NICE JOB!!!!

  • very good.

  • I don't think that particular comment was particularly called for.

  • Besides, it's not like looking as if you're having an orgasm playing the solo is the only way to express soul.

  • It always cracks my up the critics on here. You probabaly can't play a lick on any instrument. I think the only sould you have in in your shoes. This guy has an extremely difficult solo down NOTE FOR NOTE and you say he has no soul? Methinks you have no brain.

  • 1:07 iz dat sum soul?

  • Might sound great but dame that guy. When he pops up at the beggining he for some reason freaks me out.

  • smokin!!!

  • Sounds identical to the master track.

  • Sweet. Like it. Must learn it.

  • I need this guy in MY band!!!!

  • Wow, you smoke

  • I KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • beautiful! nailed it. Skunk and Denny Dias would be proud of you...

  • Excellent job!!!

  • dang man ur awesome!

  • 0:44 - Happy face

    0:46 - Serious face

  • Nicley done !! Really nice !!!!!

  • Awesome. One of my favorite guitar solos ever--the cool of bebop plus the heat of rock--and you've got it spot on. I'll be working on it!

  • I totally agree, one of my favorite all time solos, and he nailed it! As for me all i can say is maybe some day...but i dought it.

  • Absolutely one of the finest guitar solos for me.

  • fantastic tone and great playing.

  • Awesome job!

  • awesome job dude!

  • There you go...

  • Like the great, late Peter Boyle would say: "HOLY CRAP!" Nice licks.

  • Nice job. Why don't you try giving Jon Herrington some lessons so that he can play the guitar solos within reasonable proximity to the original recordings. One would think it's the least he can do....while he's on tour with the band.

  • Yeehaaaaaa! Get down!
