I played this during my freshman year of high school, when I was actually in the jazz band. I dropped out the following year, because I disagreed with how the band director ran things. Sure, we all aspire to sound great and all, but what a lot of people forget is that jazz music was never intended to be a well-oiled machine. In fact, it was supposed to be everything music at the time wasn't.
That's just my opinion, but other than that, this is a great-sounding cover or whatever you call it.
i got an oppertunity this year to get to play this chart, its tough. they did a truely amazing job playing this, the only thing i would recommendis a little more dynamic contrast in the second half. other then that they are truely amazing, and playing it, ii understand how easy it is to really get into it and forget the dynamics, so great job, its truely one of the best sounding recording of this arrangement. i love it!
I played this song when I was in high school. I was the bass player and played that sweet lick. I got a trophy for best rhythm soloist at contest. I want to give my trophy back because that chick totally kicked my ass!
Really nice, really clean tonguing. Me and my combo are doing a slightly faster version and I'm having trouble getting the triplets to speak on alto =P
are you talking about the triplet 8th notes? same here and i'm 2nd alto. you just kinda have to force your tongue. I almost get all the way through them without loosin it. don't worry. you'll get it. =)
ahhhh im playing this song for jazz band and im the bass player -.- woot sophomore year and a huge soleo agg im playing the bass solo in the beginning but on a electric sence are school doesnt have an upright :( yea wish me luck! xD
wow really good. they are really good. but i saw euclaire wisconsin's high school jazz band and they almost sounded that good and worked on it for like a week. well it wasnt as clean but still. they are good. but i wish the solos were longer.

Nice chart-true to the original. Hey how about those soloists ? really captured the spirit of the music (alto soloist same as on Angel yes and Cut an Run (tenor). Great bass and rhythm section contribution. 5 stars girls. See you in Seattle !!
wow I'm haitian and vraiment surprise vraiment beau maybe they didn't live what I know ,but this is the real music for the real life in Haiti spin, non stop, hard to understand why some injustice happen and fight.Perfect.
,I have no doubt that Count Basie,Charlie Mingus and all the other deceased people associated with the music that this band plays must be looking down with the same thoughts as you.
bfjo you guys, oops I mean girls are great. Will look you up when I visit. Would live to hear the bari involed in some soloing. Keep up the good work.
