  • I played this during my freshman year of high school, when I was actually in the jazz band. I dropped out the following year, because I disagreed with how the band director ran things. Sure, we all aspire to sound great and all, but what a lot of people forget is that jazz music was never intended to be a well-oiled machine. In fact, it was supposed to be everything music at the time wasn't.

That's just my opinion, but other than that, this is a great-sounding cover or whatever you call it.

  • i got an oppertunity this year to get to play this chart, its tough. they did a truely amazing job playing this, the only thing i would recommendis a little more dynamic contrast in the second half. other then that they are truely amazing, and playing it, ii understand how easy it is to really get into it and forget the dynamics, so great job, its truely one of the best sounding recording of this arrangement. i love it!

  • Tough chart done well. Solos are done well. These chicks can swing, in a good way.

  • That chick on bass is really doing it. Kudos!!!

  • Wow what a tribute to Mingus, worthy performance!

  • It's so cool and hotsound.

  • This is my favorite version of this song. Thank you !

  • Great work!

  • Hard to beleive this is a high school ensemble, they swing!

  • They are public high school students.

Moreover, they are the high schools in a local city in Japan named Kobe.

The high school in Japan learns for three years.

The age is done from 15 to 18 years old.

  • The group I'm playing in now is working on this exact arrangement, and I have to say, this is very impressive.

Amazing trombone section, especially 1st and bass trombone. Amazing drummer too. I love it.

  • I am frankly astounded as I watch and listen to these kids. OMG!!!!

I just can't believe it --just like pros and they are high schoolers!!!!!

The world will be a better place if we only have children focused on music. I can't expresse it better than that.

    INCREDIBLE!!!!!

    Jazz is.

    Andrew Homzy, Montréal

  • I also love your appreciation u made about the BFJO. Really helpful. I also never knew you was the arranger for this Mingus tune.

  • Andrew (bixandtram)

,I have no doubt that Count Basie,Charlie Mingus and all the other deceased people associated with the music that this band plays must be looking down with the same thoughts as you.

  • Way to pick some masterful music. Reach for It! Peace.
