Think the controls reminds of S.D.I. Think it is Global Defense on the master system. On that you have to switch between moving a satellite and the crosshair for laser with the d-button. Quite awkward. Cool feature though that a second player could control the satellite while the other one is shooting.

I extremely doubt it. Dreamcast's failure was in a low amount of good casual market games (things everybody can play, for instance a halo title), and one of the worst marketing plans in history. Playstation2 sadly destroyed Sega's hopes and dreams, and I don't think a DVD play would've changed that.

uhh are you forgetting that it was everyone and their mom being able to burn that games so that killed the games sales everyone burned games for the dreamcast i had about 10 friends that had one and we always planned ahead on who would buy a game so that way only 1 of us had to buy it

as for the dreamcast everyone and i mean everyone in my school did it 1 person would buy a game and it rotated on who did then that person would burn it for about 50 people if not more it was pretty much 1 person got it for our entire grade

not to mention the NEC chip that was in the dreamcast made it easy for developers to use the hardware rather than that stupidly named emotion engine for the ps2, im not dissing ps2 because i love the system, i just think at the time and the games that were coming out, the DC was the best for games, and it was people can say what they want but DC had the spot light for acouple years with amazing games and really steller graphics which toped the ps2 and rivaled DC is simply awesome and still is!

and even at the time Dreamcast for a system that was close in specs to the ps2, the Dreamcast for 1999 too 2001 had better GRAPHICS! yes the DC did and im not saying that because i love the system, its the truth!, developers were able to use the hardware to the best of it's abilities when other developers were struggling to figure out sony's new system, and if it lasted tell now it might the DC might still have better graphics, hardware was easier to use thanks to windows on board the DC.

ya no worries i realize that i was just saying is all, and it was actually better at processing textures and making things look real than the ps2 the ps2 might have a better processor but that dont really mean much especially at the time when games were coming out on both and most of the time they played and ran better on a DC. RE code veronica is another good example of a game being better. and of course every fighting game was better on the DC. it was the fighting machine and better than ps2

The SYSTEM was supreme for its time - almost similar in power to PS2, but much faster to deliver decent (and decent-looking) games than the PS2.

What's the best system you could get between 1999 and 2001? Certainly the Dreamcast, absolutely no doubt about it. Best controls (save for DualShock which came a bit late), best games, best graphics.

Don't take this game as a benchmark though, really.

If you really want to be loose in comparison, this is a really glorified Space Invaders concept. You have scores of enemies coming after you and shooting. You can move left and right, but never towards them.
