I agree, but also kind of see why they didn't and most likely won't. It'd be a bitch to use on a field populated by modern hopper fed electros, it could only hang with pumps back in the day through intimidation factor I imagine. Would I still gladly kill for one? Of course :D
@tazer561 I wont lie, that is probably the dumbest comment I have ever seen on youtube. I really dont want to go here and conform to everyone else that uses this stupid word but for lack of a better one...stop trolling newb. This guy has awesome guns that are worth more than your life. Why dont you leave people alone on youtube and actually go play paintball to know what its like to have such priceless items. Thank you that is all.
I forgot to mention, I bought the sniper model, and silencer. The reliability of the .62 caliber rounds in this Tippman smg was better than the .68 caliber. The .62 cal rounds did not break as easy. Problem was, a lot of times they would no break when they hit people thanks to the field's 300 fps maximum rule. They chronographed us all. I had a few different length recoil springs to boost or reduce the FPS. This was my favorite paintgun ever. Do they still sell the .62 ammo?
hey, thanks for the comments. I also have an SMG-60, and you're right, they were much more reliable. The one issue I have with the SMG-68 is the aluminum magazine. A guy out in Nova Scotia is working on getting some steel magazines made so we can run these guns without the denting issues.
I do have a case of .62 caliber paint that I ordered from pwpaintball on MCarterBrown. He did a special run from a manufacturer, and it is the perfect size and works very, very well.
I had the model that shot the old .62 caliber. I always had to order a lot of paint balls as for everyone else they could just buy some from Tech-na-ball which was a truck that sat at the field selling people gas refills and paint, but all .68 caliber and no .62 caliber. I loved tricking people that counted off my 20, but I always shoved a stripper in every 5. They always fell for it.
why isnt there a fully automatic paintball gun like that anymore, bot with a mag like that, 13 shots isnt enough, but now all auto's have to be charged? why
I think it would be fairly easy to bring these designs back, but these days people think that a paintball gun having more kick than some real firearms is a bad thing! They all want smooth shooters, which is a shame. Also, the SMGs have terrible efficiency.
I use it as a distraction...got about 5-6 shots through the fro at the last pump day! People always think they've got a headshot lined up, but it just goes whizzing through.
And if it does hit my head, well all those paintball oils give me great jheri curls...
Well done! When we played in the 80s we would have to split up the guys who had the SMG for balance on the teams. We did the same thing when they made the 68 Special.
lol is the camera guy wearing a cow bell or something?

I think if tippmann took this gun and redisigned it with modern technology, it would be a big hit.

@russcpb Also, don't they run best on liquid CO2? Most modern paintballers would be dumbfounded by that. LOL
