  • Thank you. I'm very proud of being an Occupational Therapist. What an amazing career we are in?

    Manel

  • I'm proud being an occupational therapy student...:D i'll be having my internship next year :D

  • I can't become a OT i am not that patient!

  • I really like this career! I've just started it and it's gonna take me less than 2 years and I am so happy. I've researched and researched about this career and everything I have read about it, I would love to do and learn. There are many specialties in this profession and I like them all, but I do want to specialize in the mental, psychiatric part of it. I am so excited to have found this profession that fits my compassion to help people with metal problems, physical, emotional and among others

  • @ONMYOWN99 thank you so much!

  • @vegiwrap thank you :)

  • Thank you so much for the way you presented OT's diverse approach and especially for the music you chose to portray the beauty of it!

  • @1stwreader thank you for your kind comment :)

  • can someone tell me what the song is called please?!??

  • @jellofast Age of Innocence from Enigma

  • i cant wait to go 2 college and become an ot this would b my dream job to help ppl

  • This video does a great job of explaining what OT is! I love the music too! I'm an OTA student and I made a video for class about group occupational therapy. If you would like to see my video please click on my name and you will see it :)

  • Thanks for making & posting this!

  • @ONMYOWN99 i had the same decision. pt only pays 5-10% more and requires a doctoral program now. and grad school is extremely expensive, over 20k per year. after paying 2 more years of pt school, i'd owe 50,000 dollars more tuition/housing and lost 1-2 years of working time. the year spent still in school if you were a pt, you couldve spent working as an ot and made 70,000. so total difference is $120,000. a final pay difference of about 5k dollars per year= 25 years to catch up.

  • good vid

  • I am currently in school - learning the skills of an OTA and I want to continue training and school to be an OTR. There is so much to learn, and I was wondering if I made the right choice...then I saw your video! Sometimes we all need a little inspiration to know the commitment is worth the effort. This movie clip did just that for me! Thank you for Sharing!

  • I am a nurse for 3 years and its come to a stage where i hate it. I love the aspect of seeing patients get better, but all i see it though is giving meds. Its interesting what the occupational therapists do. On my ward, a plastics ward, they make all sorts of splints and stuff to get patients movement back and so forth. Ive seen a hand therapist who is an OT and its amazing what they learn.

I am looking into doing OT post grad study.

  • @rozymisty thank you so much for sharing. good luck to you!

  • This makes me want to be an occupational therapist. But PT is still better ;)

  • youve changed my life..thank you for posting

  • @kdog80 thank you for your kind comment

  • i really want to be one of these.

  • @gozes189 go for it!

  • Thank you for making this video.. I was siged up to do Radiology until someone tol me it's better for me to do something lik pta or ota, and I preferred ota but didn't really have an interest in it at first. But after getting a little insight into it with this video, this could turn out to be something I'd love to be doing...

  • @mzbubblegum18 wow i really appreciate you sharing that. good luck in your new career!

  • @vegiwrap Thank you! I'm just about a month and a half away from my lvl 2 now! Which will be for four months, and then graduation! I'm terrified about lvl 2 though! >_< lol

  • Great vid! I saw it first during education. Now I work at a neuro rehab clinic, and I still think it's great!

  • @Swindiana thank you so much

  • why do people always use cheesy music to "set the mood" just play the video without music so we can hear about specific techniques and not just get a visual/simulated emotional experience...

  • @occuther thanks for the constructive feedback. I will consider that for the next video I make :)

  • Thank you I am trying to decide if I want to pursue this career or not !!!!

  • great...OTR for 10 years and still energetic about new people, new strageties and educating students

    SETON HALL U

  • Hi! I'm from Philippines and I'm planning to take OT, because I really, really want to help other people.. What can you advice to me and it takes how many years to finish this course? Is it 5yrs?

  • ADVOCATE!!! OCCUPATIONS of daily living!! If Thomas Jefferson said "occupation" then we still should!! Also "Assistive" equipment rather than "Adaptive" this equipment does not change the developmental structure!! haha... SORRY!! I'm learning all the conceptual framework of therapeutic occupation terms... I am a first year OTD student at University of Toledo!! Otherwise good video!! :-D

  • Thomas Jefferson also had slaves. Should we still practice that?

Obviously the University of Toledo does not place emphasis on comprehending basic writing skills and logical thought for their doctorate programs.

  • My comment was not meant to hate upon this video or other programs.... and no I don't believe that people should still be enslaved.... I was just trying to prove the point that a long time ago people used to use the word occupation rather than activitiy.... since use of the word has changed it has changed the credibility and understanding about our profession.... and yes UT DOES place emphaisis on "comprehending basic writing skills and logical thought"!!!!!

  • oh yea... and i brought up Thomas Jefferson because they used his quote in the video... did u even watch it??

  • @dee1126 i am interested in this career im a seior in high school and this is probally the best career that suits me best can you please ell me what the requirements are?

  • @eliasisnemesis well each OT program has their own requirements, best thing to do is check out some schools close by you, or at least check out their website. I am sure you will find all the info you need to know. Good luck!

  • I will finish OTA school in June 2010, very exciting! I love this video :D

  • thank you so much! good luck in your new career!

  • that is a pretty good video.

I am doing my pre reqs for MSOT program now, but i am trying to figure out which bachelors i should get before i go to the masters program.

i might take kinesiology since it seems close.

What bachelors did you take before you got your

    masters?

  • One of the many great things about OT is that people come from a variety of backgrounds.

My bachelors was in intercultural studies and psychology.

I think the more well rounded you are as a person the better

therapist you will be. Good luck!

  • Thanks yoguey. I went to USC. yes, it was very expensive because it's a private university. but, see if there are any public universities that has OT programs in your state.

  • Good luck with your studies ;o)

  • Excellent video...that really inspired me to continue on my journey. I was interested in both the PharmD and OT programs, but decided to do OT because I want to be able to help people in their day to day lives...in the things that matter to them most. Thank you so much for sharing this video with us.

  • your personal story is inspiring as well. thanks for sharing!

  • HI FROM COLOMBIAN O:T:

  • Que pena que en España no nos valoren como en EEUU, aquí muchos no saben ni que exite esta profesión tan importante y gratificante. Somos pocos y encima hay pocas ofertas de trabajo. Yo llevo 1 año sin encontrar trabajo y acabé la carrera en el 2006, todo por lo comentado antes y por no tener experiencia.

  • I love this video I had a massive stroke July ,2006 doctors told me that I would never walk or use my left armand hand again but now I walk 3 miles a day have 95% of my left arm and 80% of my hand back thanks to my therapist I have a short video on utube called [ helenshand therapy} check it out therapists RULE thank god for you

  • Extremely inspiring!! This video definitely shows the amazing effects of occupational therapy and in fact displays this intern's love for the health of others. This is the field I am mostly likely to consider.

  • thanks for the kind comment!

  • I am a Filipino OT trained in Philippines currently working in England, Your Video is nice.Just a query, Do these patients consented to the video. Its a big fuss when we get any form of media to our patients. What about privacy and dignity? CHEERS!!!!

  • the patients in the video were nice and supportive of me making the video but i also made sure to get all the patients to sign consent forms

  • Thanks for the prompt response, I did try to advertise through this form of media here in England , however it was not approved.Good Job keep it up!!!Regards to all Filipno OT you work with in the States.

  • hi febi79, for writing resumes, search for "resume templates" on the internet. there will be plenty of websites that have free downloads you can use. hope this helps!

  • thanks Laura! i checked out your blog. i love your passion for OT.

  • hi...loved the video. i posted it on my new blog as an example of OT in rehab, for people who didn't know. I liked it because you do not need words to describe OT, which is great for use in non-English speaking environments. I work in Egypt, cjeck out my new blog: Occupational Therapy in Egypt (you can just google that, as the message wouldn't save when I added the address!)

    Laura

  • what is a model of cv?

  • i'm honored you enjoyed the video so much you showed your parents. i don't know if i'm the best person to give advice on our therapy role, but i'd be glad to discuss OT issues with you. so how is OT in India?

  • wow, thank you so much for the compliment. i made this video because a lot of my family and friends didn't understand what my profession was about. so i wanted to show it to them through video.
